Alice Cripe

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27, at Buell Funeral Chapel in Springfield for Alice E. Cripe of Eugene, who died Jan. 20 of age-related causes. She was 83. Visitation will be from noon to 5 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

She was born Oct. 26, 1925, in East Prairie, Mo., to Austin and Madge Caldwell Majors. She married Edwin Cripe on Jan. 25, 1947, in Dufur.

She graduated from Hardin High School in Hardin, Ill., and completed business college in Medford in 1953. She worked as a bookkeeper for 40 years for Garchow Corp.

Survivors include a son, Dan of Springfield; a stepson, Robert of Redmond; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Her husband died in 1999 and a stepson, Edwin Cripe Jr., died in 1987.

Inurnment will be at Rest-Haven Memorial Park in Eugene. Arrangements by Andreason’s Cremation & Burial Service in Springfield. Remembrances to the American Diabetes Foundation.
