Laurence Montgomery

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Feb. 14 at Living Hope Church in Eugene for Laurence Arthur “Bud” Montgomery of Eugene, who died Jan. 24 of cancer. He was 81.
He was born Oct. 12, 1927, in Berkeley, Calif., to Monte and La Velle Penland Montgomery. He married Lois Griffeth on June 5, 1949, in Palo Alto, Calif.
Montgomery worked as an engineer for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration for 40 years, retiring in 1985. He then moved to Eugene and became a sheep rancher. He served in the Army in 1946-47.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Linda Miller of Eugene; a son, Larry of Trabuco Canyon, Calif.; a brother, Hugh, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Michael King

SPRINGFIELD — Michael John King of Springfield died Jan. 23 of cancer. He was 69. No service is planned.
He was born Dec. 3, 1939, in Rapid City, Kan., to Bill and Gladys Guenther King.
He served in the Air Force, monitoring Soviet aircraft in Labrador.
He is survived by a sister, Rosemary Kentta of Eugene.

Wayne Baker

Wayne Eugene Baker of Albany, formerly of Eugene, died Jan. 14 of complications of diabetes. He was 69. No service is planned.
He was born March 10, 1939, in Richmond Beach, Wash., to William and Violet Harrell Baker.
He was a log truck driver for Moon Brothers for 10 years. He later owned a long haul truck, working for Matt Transportation Inc. He served in the Marines.
Survivors include his former wife, Sharon Kay Baker of Veneta; two daughters, Cyndi Munger of Albany and Dena Baker of Medford; a brother, Frank of Eugene; two sisters, Florence Padden of Eugene and Lucille Miller of Reno, Nev.; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A son, William, died previously.
Burial will be in Laurel Grove Cemetery. Arrangements by Andreason’s Cremation & Burial Service in Springfield.
Thelma Andrews

SPRINGFIELD — Thelma Mae Curd Andrews died Jan. 22 of age-related causes. She was 78. No service is planned.
She was born Sept. 27, 1930, in Harrisburg, Ky., to John and Cora Cigar Curd. She married John Andrews in 1947 in Lexington, Ky. He died in 1987.
She graduated from high school in Kentucky and was a homemaker.
Survivors include two daughters, Denise Andrews-Powell of Washington and Sherlyn Dendy of Springfield; two sons, Thomas Andrews of Washington and Kascadare Causeya of Portland; five grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. A son, Elby Andrews and a life partner, Roy Causey, died previously.
Burial will be in Laurel Grove Cemetery in Eugene. Arrangements by Andreason’s Cremation & Burial Service in Springfield. Remembrances to Greenhill Humane Society.
Gary Shirtliff

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, at the Eagles Lodge in Eugene for Gary Marvin Shirtliff of Eugene, who died Jan. 24 of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. He was 68.
He was born Aug. 13, 1940, in Plentywood, Mont., to Herbert and Florence Johnson Shirtliff. He married Sandra Cox on June 24, 1989, in Reno, Nev.
Shirtliff served in the Navy and worked as a heavy-equipment mechanic.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, James Shirtliff of Eugene and Jeff Power of Veneta; two daughters, Annette Antone of Alvadore and Tawnya Geertsen of Eugene; a sister, Darlene Christensen of Montana; two brothers, Bob and Ron, both of Montana; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A son, Scott, died previously.

SPRINGFIELD — Marjory R. Holt of Springfield died Jan. 14 of heart failure. She was 66. A private family service is planned.
She was born Oct. 27, 1942, in Vancouver, Wash., to Perry and Marion Clay Elliott. She married Robert Holt on March 7, 1981, in Salem.
She held a general equivalency diploma and was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband; her mother, Marion Elliott of Chino Hills, Calif.; and three siblings, Allen Elliott of Kansas City, Mo., Linda Muñoz of Chino Hills and Deanna Tarango of Springfield.
