Thomas Hense

SPRINGFIELD — A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Jan. 31 at Springfield Lutheran Church for Thomas L. Hense of Springfield, who died Jan. 19 of age-related causes. He was 86.

He was born March 3, 1922, in Troy, Idaho to George and Emma Holmes Hense. He married Evelyn Loe on Nov. 5, 1959, in Eureka, Calif. She died in 1996. He married Betty Briggs on April 26, 1997, in Salinas, Calif.

Hense served in the Navy aboard the USS Clay in World War II, transporting troops on landing craft.

Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Gretchen Simas of Eugene, Diane Stroub, Barbara Betiz and Debra Perry, all of Salinas, Calif.; a son, Gary Wolfe of Salinas; two brothers, Ivan of Pleasant Hill and David of Olympia; a sister, June Peterson of Olympia; seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Arrangements by Andreason’s Cremation & Burial Service in Springfield. Remembrances to Cascade Hospice or the American Diabetes Association.
