Richard L. Tarlton of Eugene died Jan. 30 of heart failure. He was 82. No service is planned.
He was born Nov. 11, 1926, in Oklahoma City to Ira and Jimmie Pike Tarlton. He married Mary Lou Hall in January 1949 in Coos Bay.
He went to Southern California College for one year before serving in the Navy during World War II. He spent his life as a bar owner and worker in the restaurant business.
Survivors include a son, Mark of Eugene; a daughter, Mary Hauck of Carson City, Nev.; and two grandchildren.

SPRINGFIELD — Gloria Lee Pew of Springfield died Jan. 30 of emphysema. She was 61. A private family service is planned.
She was born July 4, 1947, in Mos-cow, Idaho, to Albert and Viola Hurtley Poesy.
She attend-ed Mount Si High School in Snoqualmie, Wash. She worked as a hospital caregiver and cook.
Survivors include two daughters, Roxanne Pew of Springfield and Carmela Arledge of Marcola; two sons, Jerry of Ketchikan, Alaska, and Robert of Albany; four sisters, Wanda Melin of Snoqualmie, Patty Raney of Post Falls, Idaho, Daisy Spackman of Spokane and Debbie Brinkman of Utah; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Edward Murphy

Edward H. Murphy of Eugene died Jan. 28 of heart failure. He was 76. A celebration of life will be held later.
He was born Dec. 29, 1932, in Los Angeles to Warren and Kathryn Mahone Murphy. He and his wife, Nancy, were married July 30, 1980, in Columbus, Ohio.
Murphy served in the Air Force. A physician, he attended Stanford University and the University of Oregon Medical School and served his residency training in urology at Cornell University and Ohio State University.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Mark of Hillsboro; two daughters, Kathryn Wilson of Greenville, S.C., and Kelli Taylor of Arlington, Va.; a stepdaughter, Pamela Kreber of Columbus, Ohio; and eight grandchildren.

William Davis Jr.

LEABURG — William R. Davis Jr. of Leaburg died Jan. 29 of age-related causes. He was 82. No service is planned.
He was born July 19, 1926, in Springfield to William Sr. and Etta Vallier Davis.
He married Carrieanne Hansen. She died Dec. 16, 2005.
He worked in the merchant marine and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He spent more than 50 years logging along the McKenzie River.
Survivors include a daughter, Darcie Davis of Bend; a stepson, Kelly Ayres of New Windsor, Md.; and six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Private inurnment will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Leaburg. Arrangements by Andreason Cremation and Burial Service in Springfield.
Brent Morris

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at River Road Baptist Church in Eugene for Brent Lee Morris of Eugene. He died Feb. 3 of heart-related causes at age 51.
He was born June 22, 1957, in Portland to Tom and Phyllis Moore Morris. He married Dolores Shoemaker in 1979 in Eugene and they later divorced. He married Sandy Wheeler on Feb. 7, 2003.
Morris graduated from Springfield High School in 1975. He owned Superior Machine Tool Service in Eugene for 12 years.
Survivors include his wife; his father and stepmother, Tom and Patty Morris of Portland; his mother and stepfather, Patty and Vic Niiya of Gresham; a son, Eric Morris of Eugene; four stepdaughters, Tiffany Ball of Vancouver, Wash., Jenny Hamilton of St. Helens, Kristina Dilley of Harrisburg and Sarah Taug of Junction City; a stepson, Jason Cooper of Eugene; three sisters, Debbie Culbertson, Tami Parks and Nita Roessell, all of Portland; and five grandchildren. A son, Bryan Morris, died Sept. 1, 2008.

Ruby Little

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Lamb Cottage, 101 Cheshire St. in Eugene for Ruby R. Little of Eugene. She died Jan. 29, of age-related causes at age 101.
She was born July 23, 1907, in Knox County, Tennessee to Sill and Ibbie Weaver Rice. She married Elbert Little Jr. on Aug. 13, 1943, in Washington, D.C.
She held a master’s degree in botany from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. She worked as a botanist for the U.S. Department of Agriculture at the Agricultural Research Service in Beltsville, Md.
Survivors include a daughter, Alice Stroud of Eugene; two sons, Gordon and Melvin, both of Kettering, Ohio; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Her husband died June 18, 2004.

SPRINGFIELD — A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 1533 Market St. in Springfield for Kathleen Jo “Kathie” Burdick of Springfield. She died Feb. 2 of complications of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. She was 59. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. today, Feb. 6, at Buell Funeral Chapel in Springfield.
She was born Jan. 15, 1950, in Pocatello, Idaho to Forrest and Helen Bates Strawn. She married Richard Burdick on Feb. 29, 2000, in Eugene.
She attended Pocatello High School in Idaho and South Eugene High School. She was a certified nursing assistant and caregiver.
Survivors include her husband; her stepfather, Wallie Reade; four children, Jo Frey of Eugene, Teresa Frey and James Burdick, both of Springfield, and Rochelle Buchanan of Cottage Grove; three siblings, Roberta Higley of Las Vegas, Dan Reade of Springfield and Steve Reade of Portland; and 12 grandchildren.

A graveside inurnment service will be held at 11 a.m. today, Feb. 7, at Rest-Haven Memorial Park in Eugene for Maria Antonia Marzinger of Eugene. She died Feb. 4 at age 95.
She was born March 11, 1913, in Vienna, Austria to Rudolf and Esther Neubauer Wilpert. She married Karl Marzinger in 1930 in Vienna, Austria.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include a son, Karl of Vienna, Austria; a daughter, Rosa Stepan of Springfield; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Her husband died March 26, 1987, and a daughter, Gerda Croyle, died previously.

PLEASANT HILL — A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, at Restoration Fellowship in Springfield for Naomi F. Luce of Pleasant Hill. She died Feb. 3 of Alzheimer’s disease at age 82.
She was born June 6, 1926, in Cottage Grove to Otho and Annie Westlake Parr. She married Allan Luce on Oct. 17, 1953 in Bend.
She graduated from high school in 1944. She worked as a welder in shipyards during World War II and as a bank teller and schoolteacher. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, Kenneth Williams of Eugene, David Luce of Pleasant Hill and Timothy Luce of Springfield; two daughters, Margurite Anderson of Yuma, Ariz., and Carrie Jones of Pleasant Hill; five siblings, Vernon Parr, Wanita Smith and Phyllis Wilson, all of Pleasant Hill, Ron Parr of Portland and Shirley Dilley; 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

SPRINGFIELD — A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3965 in Springfield for Lee L. Jonas of Springfield. He died Feb. 4 of cancer at age 80.
He was born Feb. 19, 1928, in Bend to Lee and Hester Munsel Jonas. He married Jean Stroud on Feb. 22, 1948, in Klamath Falls.
Jonas served in the Navy. He worked as a logger and commercial fisherman.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Jeanie Bewley of Springfield; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A son, Lee, died in 1974.
