Vincent DeMartine Sr.

SPRINGFIELD — Vincent “Vinnie” DeMartine Sr. of Springfield died March 9 of age-related causes. He was 83. No service is planned.

He was born Dec. 3, 1925, in Hoboken, N.J., to Thomas and Camilla Fortuna DeMartine. He and his wife, Lucille, were married April 21, 1948, in Hoboken.

DeMartine served in the Navy in the Pacific Theater from 1942 to 1945. He worked as a diecut operator, in assembly at Freightliner and as a school district custodian.

Survivors include five children, Kathy Tremblay and Cammy DeMartine, both of Springfield, Judy James of Placerville, Calif., Vincent DeMartine Jr. of Tucson, Ariz., and Susie DeMartine of Nashua, N.H.; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. His wife died April 19, 2008.
