James Chesser

CRESWELL — James Chesser of Creswell died April 5 of cancer at age 79. No service is planned.

He was born May 22, 1929, in Tulsa, Okla., to William and Sybil Johnson Ches-ser.

He married Toni Jackson on July 4, 1970, in Las Vegas. She died March 23, 2009.

He earned a master’s degree in education. He served as an aircraft mechanic in the U.S. Navy. Chesser spent his career as a junior high school music and English teacher in Las Vegas.

Survivors include three sons, James Chesser of Coldspring, Texas, Keith Chesser of San Antonio, and Randall Tillman; a stepson, Darryl Jackson of Renton, Wash.; a daughter, Krista Taylor; and one stepgrandchild. A step­daughter, Darcy Bicknell, died previously.
