Neal Barton

A celebration of life potluck and open house will be held from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. today, May 29, at 4452 Jessica St. in Springfield for Charles Cornelius “Neal” Barton of Eugene, formerly of Cottage Grove. He died May 24 of age-related causes at 89.

He was born Dec. 23, 1919, in Selma, Calif., to William Barton and Helen Mitchell. He married Catherine Lundstrom on June 28, 1941, in Eugene.

Barton served in the Navy. He retired from Bohemia Lumber Co. and previously worked for Champion in Gold Beach, U.S. Plywood and Safeway in Cottage Grove.

Survivors include three sons, Charles of Eugene and Larry and Bill, both of Springfield; seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

His wife died Dec. 29, 1997.
