SPRINGFIELD — A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. June 8 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church for Robert “Bob” Burbee of Springfield, who died May 23 of cancer-related causes. He was 79.

He was born Dec. 30, 1929, in Klamath Falls to Frank and Myrtle McKin-nis Burbee. He married Lois Ann Potter on Dec. 7, 1956, in Springfield.

Burbee attended schools in Dorris, Calif., and Pleasant Hill. He served with the Navy Reserve Seabees and worked as a mechanic and welder on dams across the Northwest.

Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Susi Whitley of Fall Creek, Donna Wendland of Veneta, Jill Pokorny of Gresham, and Barbara Tanton of Boise; four sons, Michael Burbee of Corvallis, Mark Burbee of Springfield, John Burbee of Pleasant Hill, and Bob Vandeberg of Great Falls, Mont.; two brothers, Ted of St. Helens and Lyle of Pleasant Hill; a sister, Beatrice Minty of Springfield; and 16 grandchildren.
