Donald Yantz

SPRINGFIELD — A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, June 29, at the VFW Hall in Springfield for Donald William Yantz of Springfield, who died June 23 of small-cell lung cancer at age 72.

He was born Oct. 23, 1936, in Lebanon, Pa., to Walter and Evelyn Zimmerman Yantz. He married Wilma Godsey in Lebanon, Pa., on Dec. 24, 1948.

He graduated from Lebanon High School in Pennsylvania in 1954. He served as an airman first class in the U.S. Air Force between 1954 and 1958. He worked as an automotive technician in Eugene and Springfield for more than 47 years.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Michelle Hendee of Sweet Home and Lynette Wittmayer of Prineville; a son, Danny of Las Cruces, N.M.; a brother, Dale of Lebanon; four grandchildren; and six great-grand­children. A grandson, Brian Miller, died in 1995.
