FALL CREEK — The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 15, at St. Henry Catholic Church in Dexter for Joyce Walker of Fall Creek, who died June 10 of heart failure. She was 77.
She was born Feb. 26, 1932, in Louisville, Ky., to T.R. and Bessie Eakins Chamberlin. She married John Walker on Aug. 30, 1944.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, June Walker of Truro, Iowa; a brother, Melvin Chamberlin of Ireland; and two grandchildren.

Florence Blythe

SPRINGFIELD — Florence “Flo” E. Blythe of Springfield died June 10 of age-related causes. She was 98. A private service will be later.
She was born June 1, 1911, in Spokane to Floyd and Charlotte McGill Newell. She married Archie Blythe. He died in 1984.
She was a high school graduate who had attended schools in Spokane and in Sandpoint, Idaho. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include two sons, Travis of McKenzie Bridge and Jack of Stagecoach, Nev.; a sister, Hazel Perry of Las Vegas; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A daughter, Susan Smith, died in 1984.

Miles Johnson

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, June 15, at First Baptist Church in Eugene for Miles Kormas Johnson of Portland, formerly of Lane County, who died June 10 of pancreatic cancer. He was 63.
He was born Nov. 2, 1945, in Oakfield, Calif., to H.W. and Mary Kormas Johnson. He married Sara Joy Turner on Oct. 12, 1996, in Eugene.
He graduated from the University of Oregon in 1968. He served in the Army as a military police officer in West Germany, attaining the rank of major. He later worked for Georgia Pacific and BlueLinx Corp. for more than 37 years.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Grant of Los Angeles; a sister, Louise Ross of Missoula, Mont.; and two grandchildren.

Edward Swafford

MARCOLA — A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 20, at Marcola Church of Christ for Edward John Swafford of Marcola, who died June 10 of pancreatic cancer. He was 78.
He was born June 28, 1930, in Wendling to John and Mildred Brown Swafford. He married Clara Mayberry on April 22, 1950, in Marcola. She later died. He and his second wife, Betty, were married Nov. 9, 2006, in Eugene.
Swafford graduated from Mohawk High School. He worked in a sawmill for Weyerhaeuser.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Verdene McGlaughlin of Springfield and Linda Landreth of Marcola; a son, Gene Swafford of Springfield; five stepchildren, James and Silvia Tucker of Panama, Doug and Donna Tucker, Sheila and Vern Marsonette and Wesley and Mary Tucker, all of Springfield and Brian and Stacy Tucker of Alaska; a brother, David of Drain; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and 26 step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A grandson, Chad McGlaughlin and two brothers Donald Swafford and Lester Swafford died previously.

CRESWELL — Gary N. Sather of Creswell died June 6 of heart failure. He was 52. No service is planned.
He was born June 24, 1956, in Helena, Mont., to Lawrence and Leon Clark Sather.
He graduated from Reedsport High School and worked as a truck driver for Sherman Bros. In his time off, Gary enjoyed the outdoors.
Survivors include a daughter, Angelia Gomez of Creswell; and four grandchildren.

SPRINGFIELD — A memorial Mass will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, June 29, in the chapel at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Eugene for Alice Margaret “Alie” Wall of Springfield, who died June 17 of ovarian cancer. She was 80. Inurnment will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the cemetery.
She was born March 5, 1929, in Minneapolis to Michael and Irene Martin Rugloski. She married Charles Wall on May 6, 1950, in Nevis, Minn.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband; four daughters, Patricia Simpson of Eugene, Susan Smith of Minneapolis, Michelle Cegla of Portland and Kathleen Thompson of Pilot Mound, Minn.; a son, Charles of Burnsville, Minn.; a sister, Mary Tryke of Denver; two brothers, Lawrence Rugloski of Waldport and John Rugloski of Baxter, Minn.; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Leong S. Ling of Eugene died June 18 of a brain tumor at age 71. No service is planned.
He was born April 5, 1938, in Singapore to Leona Ling.
He attended Northwest Christian College. He worked in the hospitality industry at the Eugene Hotel, Valley River Inn, Hilton Eugene and Red Lion Inn. He also owned Big Y Timber Topper from 2002 to 2006 and later worked as a greeter at Wal-Mart.
He is survived by a stepson, Melvin Hockley Jr. of Eugene.

Daisy Lee DeGow of Eugene died June 19 of cancer at age 85. A private memorial service will be held later.
She was born Nov. 28, 1923, in Hong Kong.
She married Guillermo Gow Sr. in Nicaragua. He died in 1976.
She had a college education and worked as a nurse and teacher.
Survivors include four daughters, Maria Maldonado of Eugene, Lesteile Law of Cypress, Calif., Guillermina Igiesia of Orlando, Fla., and Florence Sujo of Colton, Calif.; two sons, William Gow of Hong Kong and Guillermo Gow-Lee of Battleground, Wash.; and 12 grandchildren.

Dorthea Lavonne Herman of Eugene died June 18 of a heart attack at age 70. A private service is planned.
She was born Aug. 18, 1938, in Eugene to Clarence and Minnie Millner Slayter. She married Edwin Herman in 1966. He died May 9, 1995.
She attended Elmira High School. She worked as a caregiver and day care provider for the state’s Children Services Division.
Survivors include two daughters, Sharri Rettke of McMinnville and Vicki Svarverud of Eugene; three sisters, Doris Jones of Eugene, Joyce Rogers of Harrisburg and LaVerne Hickey of Vancouver, Wash.; a brother, Eugene Slayter of Springfield; and five grandchildren.

MONROE — Joni Wesler of Monroe died June 18 of cardiopulmonary failure. She was 52. No service is planned.
She was born Jan. 18, 1957, in Anaconda, Mont., to Walter and Dorla Nelson Ramlo. She married Roy Wesler on March 23, 2006, in Drain.
She graduated from Thurston High School in 1975 and became a licensed horse trainer.
She also worked in machine shops and as an artist.
Survivors include her husband; her mother; a sister, Barbara Olson of Port Orchard, Wash.; a brother, Scott Ramlo of Springfield; and 15 grandchildren.
