Dorothy Barger

EUGENE-A private memorial service will be held for Dorothy A. Barger of Eugene, who died June 25 of heart failure at age 84.

She was born Aug. 11, 1924, in Far-go, N.D., to Henry and Niha Manning Gates. She married Ceton Delmar Barger on Aug. 31, 1941, in Springfield. He died June 24, 1998.

She was a homemaker who also managed the Colonial Inn in Eugene and cooked at various restaurants.

Survivors include three daughters, Opal Koepl of Springfield, Pattie Herbison of Dexter and Sandy Bauer of Eugene; a son, Ceton of Springfield; two sisters, Nellie Leach of Tillamook and Betty Howes of Kettle Falls, Wash.; and seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. A daughter, Lydia Floyd, and a grandson, Robert Herbert, died previously.
