Ernesto Sanchez

ELMIRA — A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. today, July 11, at Springfield Memorial Gardens for Ernesto Sanchez of Elmira, formerly of Vida. He died July 8 of age-related causes. He was 95.

Sanchez was born Oct. 7, 1913, in Cumanayagua, Cuba, to Jose and Adela Gonzalez Sanchez. He married Dolores Gutierrez in 1936 in Cuba. She died in 1976. He married Helen Mack in 1977 in Grants Pass.

He retired after working as a long haul truck driver for Express Sun Trucking and as a landscaper and gardener.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Zenaida Sanchez of Grants Pass; and two stepsons, Chris Olsen of Vida and Victor Olsen of Alaska.
