Frances Schermerhorn

Frances Schermerhorn of Eugene died June 20 of Alzheimer’s disease at age 86. No service is planned.

She was born Nov. 5, 1922, in Oak Harbor, Wash., to Herbert and Marie Ronhaar James.

She held a bachelor’s degree in secondary education from Seattle University. She was in the Coast Guard during World War II. She later worked as a legal secretary.

Survivors include a daughter, Patti Pearson of Eugene; a son, Mark Pearson of Coquille; two sisters, Myrtle Whitehead of Oak Harbor, Wash., and Alice Kammenga of Mt. Vernon, Wash; and one grandchild. Two husbands, Charles Pearson and John Schermerhorn, died previously.
