John Hoffman

SPRINGFIELD — The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon Aug. 15 at St. Alice Catholic Church in Springfield for John Merwin Hoffman of Springfield. He died June 26 of heart failure at age 63.

He was born March 1, 1946, in Eugene to David and Beatrice Carson Hoffman. He and his wife, Ruby, were married June 2, 1993, in the Philippines.

Hoffman served in the Air Force from 1964 to 1968 and in the Air Force Reserves until 1970, at the rank of sergeant.

He worked as a truck driver and a social worker.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Gretchen Hoffman of Springfield; and a sister, Ann Taylor of Steilacoom, Wash.
