John Wade Freeman of Eugene died July 17 of heart failure and heat exhaustion at age 49. No service is planned.
He was born Oct. 21, 1959, in Bakers field, Calif., to William and Glenda Utley Freeman. He married Dora Thorp in Roseburg in 1980. They later divorced.
He served in the Army for six years, stationed in Frankfurt, Germany, and attained the rank of sergeant. He was a sawmill worker and handyman.
Survivors include his parents, of Springfield; two daughters, Sarah Fournier of Cottage Grove and Mandi Freeman of Portland; three sisters, Karen Freeman of Coos Bay, Carol Bauer of Eugene and Mary Lowry of Florence; and two grandchildren.

Ron Colman

SPRINGFIELD — Ron Colman of Springfield died July 19 of complications of leukemia at age 62. No service is planned.
He was born Sept. 13, 1946, in Long Beach, Calif., to Walter and Mary AnnMcMillan Colman. He and Ellen Peters married 11 years ago.
He worked as a caregiver for the state of Oregon for several years.
He is survived by his wife.

John Sturman

James John Sturman was born in 1941 in Portland to James and Hazel (Mock) Sturman. He married Susie Rae Young on June 8, 1967 in Reno.
John was a log truck driver most of his life. He probably saw the best and worst of times for the timber industry.
On July 19, 2009 John passed away at Riverbend Hospital in Springfield from a combination Pulmonary Hypertension/Heart Disease. May he rest in peace.
John is survived by his loving wife, Susie; son James E. Sturman of Lenoir City, TN; daughter Raianne M. Rossiter of Junction City; son Steven S. Sturman of Eugene; twin brother and sister Ray and Kay Sturman, both of Powers, OR and by nine treasured grandkids.
John’s family is planning a quiet burial at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Pleasant Hill, OR. They would like to invite everyone to a public celebration of life Sunday, July 26th at 3:00PM at Christ Center Church in Junction City, and to thank everyone for their love, concern and support in this difficult time.
Norma Tubbs

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 28, at First Christian Church in Junction City for Norma E. Tubbs of Corvallis, formerly of Cheshire. She died July 18 of age-related causes at age 85.
She was born March 30, 1924, in Rochester, N.Y., to Edward and Margaret Coyne Langridge. She married Donald Tubbs on May 20, 1944, in Santa Monica, Calif.
She worked as a secretary for public schools and churches.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Meg Kean and Barbara McKernan, both of Corvallis; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A son, Harold, died previously.

Kenneth “Ken” Hale of Eugene died July 18 of complications of knee replacement surgery. He was 79. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, July 24, at Buell Funeral Chapel in Springfield. No service is planned.
He was born Jan. 5, 1930 in Aberdeen, Wash., to Roy and Ruth Steed Hale.
Hale graduated from high school in Aberdeen, Wash. He was a professional driver who retired from Lane Transit District.
Survivors include his life partner, Rita Olesen; two children, Kenneth Daniel Hale of Roseburg and Janet Spears of Nevada; two brothers, David of Spanaway, Wash., and Ronald of Medford; and four grandchildren.

Robert Dulany

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 24, at Lane Memorial Gardens in Eugene for Robert David Dulany of Eugene, who died July 18 of a heart attack. He was 62. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Buell Funeral Chapel in Springfield.
He was born Oct. 10, 1946, in Fresno, Calif. to Virgil and Mildred Caudle Dulany. He married Kathy Losey and they later divorced.
Dulany served in the Army in the Vietnam War until 1971, and was awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart.
He held a bachelor’s degree in human development from the University of Oregon. He retired from Country Coach in Junction City.
Survivors include a daughter, Michelle Halvorson of Creswell; two brothers, Gary of Eugene and Steven of Redmond; and four grandchildren.

Sandra Lyn Wisdom

Sandra Lyn Wisdom of Walterville passed away unexpectedly on July 19, 2009. She was 56.
Sandi was born on March 11, 1953 to Bob and Louise Oliver of Gates, Oregon. She graduated from Santiam High School in 1971, and in 1973 received her associates degree in nursing from Oregon Technical Institute. She was a registered nurse at McKenzie-Willamette Hospital for about 20 years.
In 1996 Sandi met the love of her life, Michael Wisdom. A first date walking around Walterville Pond led to the promise of a lifetime commitment. Sandi married her Mike in 2001, at sunset, on a beach in Kauai.
Sandi leaves behind her loving husband; her daughter Kirsten; sons Sean and Lynn; her father and stepmother, Bob and Donna Oliver of Salem; and her sisters and their husbands, Sheryl and Jerry Mennis of Salem and Karen and Scott Robinson of Olympia, Washington. She will always be “Aunt Sassy” to nieces Tami and Amanda, nephews Brad and John and four grandnephews. She was a remarkable woman and will be dearly missed.
Sandi was preceded in death by her mother, Louise Lynn, in 1998 and Mom Wisdom.
With a true zest of life her passions included marathons, gardening, scrap booking, cooking, traveling and riding on the back of Mike’s Harley. Sandi and her dog Garth were well known in the Eugene/Springfield area for their work in pet therapy.
Sandi cultivated a love of flowers, animals and adventure. She is remembered by those she touched as being a kind, compassionate woman who gave of herself without expecting anything in return.
A memorial service for Sandi will be held at 3pm on Friday, July 24, 2009 at Buell Funeral Chapel, 320 N. 6th Street, Springfield OR. Contributions in her memory may be made to Delta Society (Pet Therapy Program), 875 124th Ave. NE, Suite 101, Bellevue Wa 98005.
Randy Stroup

DEXTER — A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. today, July 21, at Pleasant Hill Cemetery for Randy Lee Stroup of Dexter, who died July 16 of cancer. He was 54.
He was born Sept. 2, 1954, in Mountain Home, Idaho, to Kenneth and Bobbie Fuller Stroup. He married Rose Marie Beck on March 10, 1972, in Dexter.
Stroup graduated from Pleasant Hill High School and served in the Army. He owned a family business for nine years, worked as a logger and owned a commercial fishing boat.
Survivors include his mother, of Dexter; two children, Jarod Stroup of Deer Lodge, Mont., and Tennessee Stroup of Smith River, Calif.; three siblings, Reggie of Dexter, Robert of Clarksville, Tenn., and Marcia Harp of Springfield; and five grandchildren. His wife died previously.

SPRINGFIELD — A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 23, at McKenzie Church of Christ in Springfield for Everett Nevin of Springfield. He died July 19 at age 65.
He was born Feb. 25, 1944, in Belle Fourche, S.D., to Carey and Helen Johnson Nevin.
He graduated from Springfield High School in 1963.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra Nevin; a son, Carey of Eugene; a daughter, Cathy Jo Gibson of Marcola; two sisters, Joyce Logan-Preis of Colorado and Virginia Dye of Springfield; a brother, Robert of West Virginia; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Jerome Barnhart

A celebration of life will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 25, in the community hall at Summer Oaks Park in Eugene for Jerome Dean “Jerry” Barnhart of Eugene. He died July 17 of prostate cancer at age 74.
He was born Nov. 17, 1934, in Sykeston, N.D. He married Betty Phillips on Aug. 6, 1955, in Portland.
He attended Walla Walla College. He was vice president of Tallman Pianos and Organs from 1957 to 1984 and worked for Lawson’s Keyboard from 1992 to 2002.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Reginald of Tigard and Bruce of Bend; a daughter, Cynthia Giammona of Kamuela, Hawaii; a sister, Sharleen Kaye of Medford; two brothers, Richard of Orange, Calif., and Harvey of Woodburn; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
