Thomas Kephart

SPRINGFIELD — A celebration of life will be from noon to 3 p.m. Aug. 1 at 4618 Daisy St. in Springfield for Thomas William Kephart of Springfield. He died July 9 of age-related causes. He was 83.

He was born July 12, 1925, in Murphy, Ky., to Thomas and Pauline Marcus Kephart. He married Grace Baldwin on April 13, 1945, in Eugene.

He served in the Army in Germany during World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and a combat infantry badge. He worked as a carpenter for Kephart Builders in Eugene and Springfield for many years.

Survivors include a son, Gary of Coburg; a daughter, Dixie Maish of Springfield; a brother, Jack of Springfield; two sisters, Loretta Platz of Florence and Emily Kaiser of Eugene; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. His wife died Aug. 16, 2005.

Arrangements are being made by Andrea­son’s Cremation & Burial Service in Springfield.
