Mel Gottsacker

Mel Gottsacker was a friend and co-worker in the death care industry for many years.  Sometimes a throwback and always a ‘character,’ we will remember Mel for the gleam in his eye and his smirk.  Our deepest sympathies to his family.  The following is an obituary from the Woodburn Independent:

Woodburn – Mel R. Gottsacker, 67, passed away on August 19, 2009 in Portland.  He was born May 19, 1942 in Portland.  He was preceded in death by his daughter, Melody Satterthwaite; sisters, Lorraine LeDoux and LaVelle Blem.

Mel is survived by his daughters, Jennifer Korkeakoski of Turner, Julie Hatfield and Dayna Rager, both of Eugene; 8 grandchildren; brothers, Delbert Gottsacker of Gervais and William Gottsacker of West Linn; sisters, Darlene Stafney of Gervais and Kathleen Scott of Mt. Angel.

A Funeral Mass will be at 1 pm Friday, August 28, 2009 at St. Luke’s Catholic Church, 417 Harrison Street, Woodburn.
