Ella Davis

JUNCTION CITY — A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 27, at 1225 Kalmia St. in Junction City for Ella A. Davis of Junction City, who died Aug. 28 of age-related causes. She was 96.

She was born Nov. 27, 1912, in Elysiam, N.D., to Aug and Magdalena Hoff. She married Oliver Ball in the 1950s in Junction City.

She was a waitress and upholsterer and a welder in the Portland shipyards during World War II.

Survivors include a grandson, Michael Davis of Portland. She was preceded in death by her husband, and a son, Ronald Davis.

Edward Cink

The funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Paul Catholic Church in Eugene for Edward L. Cink of Eugene, who died Sept. 12 of a stroke. He was 67. A Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at the church.

He was born Oct. 21, 1941, in Parker, S.D., to John and Harriet Hovaldt Cink. He married Sandra Neumann Oct. 26, 1968, in Reno, Nev.

He received a bachelor’s degree in education from General Beedle State Teachers College in Madison, S.D., and a master’s degree in education from the University of Oregon. He was a high school math teacher, an independent businessman and a U.S. Postal carrier.

Survivors include three daughters, Sheila Lanier of Olathe, Kan., and Tiffany Cink and Amy Caire, both of Eugene; a son, Robert Cink of Eugene; three sisters, Jo Marso, Elaine Wagner and Kathryn Natwick; four brothers, Jim Cink, Andy Cink, Tom Cink and Paul Cink; and six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Dorothy Hernandez

SPRINGFIELD – Dorothy Josephine Hernandez of Springfield died Sept. 5 of age-related causes at age 86.

Survivors include seven sons, Warren and Mike Berry, both of Fort Jones, Calif., Richard and Kenneth Berry, both of Greenview, Calif., Ron Bowles of California, Tom Hernandez of Portland and Frank Hernandez of Springfield; two daughters, Juanita Escobar of Vida and Judy Berry of Lebanon; two brothers, Bert Edson and Franklin Edson, both of California; a sister, Margaret Hermosillo of California; and 12 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Her husband, Warren Berry, died previously.

John Titus

John Titus John W. “Jack” Titus of Eugene and Palm Desert, Calif., died Aug. 31 of age-related causes, at age 86. No service is planned.

He was born March 30, 1923, in Eugene, to Harry and Lucille Hood Titus. His wife, Dottie Titus, died in 2005. He graduated from University High School, and attended the University of Oregon. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, in the Pacific. He was a real estate broker and was the author of three books.

Survivors include two daughters, Jan Klein of Eugene and Alexis Eykelbosch of Sisters; a son, Steve Titus of Lynden, Wash.; a sister, Marjorie Lubanko of Chicago; and ten much-loved  grandchildren and five treasured great-grandchildren.

Delores Sanford

SPRINGFIELD – Delores Y. Sanford of Springfield died Sept. 6 of brain cancer at age 66. No service is planned.

She was born Nov. 11, 1942, in Eugene, to Jasper and Vesta Simmons Knight. She married Bert Sanford Dec. 19, 1959, in Eugene.

She attended North Eugene High School and received a GED from Lane Community College, where she also attended classes. She was a homemaker and a certified nursing assistant.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Rick Sanford of Springfield; two daughters, LaDell Schwab of Springfield and Darlene Corbitt of Sacramento, Calif.; a brother, Edwin Simmons of Tennessee; a sister, Barbara Martin of Reno, Nev.; and four grandchildren.

Lillian Ziros

Lillian S. Ziros was born August 7, 1924 in Baltimore, Maryland to Louis and Gerry (Schwalb) Wetzelberger.

She graduated from Christopher Columbus High School in The Bronx and studied classical voice at Manhattan School of Music.  On VJ Day in Times Square she met John Ziros, and on January 11, 1947 they were married.  Lillian was primarily a homemaker, but also worked as a secretary on Wall Street and for American Endodontics Society in Fullerton, CA.  She was a member of Eugene First United Methodist Church.

On Sunday, September 13, 2009 Lillian passed away at her home in Eugene, OR  from complications from Parkinsons Disease.  She was 85.  She leaves behind her loving husband of 62 years, John; daughters Karen Ziros-Smith of Eugene and Gail Benchener of Newtown, PA; sister Isabelle Wood of Glendale, CA and much-loved grandkids David and Matthew Benchener and Evynne Hollens.

A memorial service will be held later at the church.

David Stannard

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, at Eugene Friends Meeting in Eugene for David R. Stannard of Fairbanks, who died Aug. 30 of cancer. He was 83.

He was born Sept. 26, 1925, in Berkeley, Calif., to Raymond and Marjorie Smith Stannard. He married Pi-Li Chang on June 23, 1960. She died on Jan. 3, 2000.

He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Redlands in 1948 and a master’s degree in social science from Oregon State University in 1964.

He worked as a potter and was a professor of ceramics at the University of Oregon.

Survivors include his partner, Noel Osheroff; two sons, Keith of London, England, and Sean of Fairbanks; two brothers, Ted Stannard of Bellingham, Wash., John Stannard of Homer, Alaska.; three sisters, Jean Stannard of Fresno, Calif., Dorothy Noyes of Keizer and Marian Heidel of Kailua, Hawaii; and three grandchildren.

Errett Norman

SPRINGFIELD — A memorial service will be at noon Tuesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 1533 Market St., in Springfield, for Errett Carlton Norman of Springfield, who died Sept. 2 of a heart attack. He was 58.

He was born Jan. 23, 1951, in Santa Paula, Calif., to Newt and Billye Templeton Norman. He married Yolanda Carino May 15, 2007, in Springfield.

He graduated from Righetti High School in Santa Maria, Calif., and served with the U.S. Navy in Vietnam. He worked as a fabrication welder.

Survivors include his wife; his mother and stepfather, Billye and Bill Blackburn of Springfield; a daughter, Jennifer Norman of Roseburg; two sons, Jared Norman of Seattle and Jacob Norman of Roseburg; two stepsons, Mike and Lester Schultz; two stepdaughters, Dixie Osbourne and Alicia Dunlap; three sisters, Kathy Weir of Springfield, Terri Howard of White Sulfur Springs, W.Va., and DelLouise Waller of Owensboro, Ky.; a brother, Toby Blackburn of White Sulfur Springs; and three grandchildren. A son, Joshua Norman, died previously.

Helmer Kildal

PLEASANT HILL — A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Buell Funeral Chapel in Springfield for Helmer “Mickey” Kildal of Pleasant Hill, who died Sept. 9 of age-related causes. He was 86.

He was born March 25, 1923, in Shevlin, Minn. He married Naomi Marsh Nov. 15, 1942, in David, Iowa. She died Dec. 15, 1996.

He served with the U.S. military in World War II, then was self-employed as a farmer.

Survivors include two sons, Don Kildal of West Linn and Loyd Kildal of Pleasant Hill; a daughter, Lynnette Augustine of Springfield; a sister, Alice Fladhammer of Modesto, Calif.; and seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Tina Roshone-Huber

A memorial service is at 2 p.m. Saturday at Dexter Baptist Church in Dexter for Tina Mae Roshone-Huber of Veneta, who died Sept. 7 at age 34.

She was born Aug. 19, 1975, in Salem, to Donald and Illa Mowat Roshone. She married Leonard Huber in May 1999, in Springfield.

She graduated from Pleasant Hill High School, and received an associate degree in health care administration from Pioneer Pacific College. She was a Certified Nursing Assistant.

She is survived by her husband; her mother; a son, Michael Huber of Veneta; a brother, David Roshone of Eugene; and three sisters, Leona Solano of Salem, Donna Cloinger of Husum, Wash., and Connie Farr of Gresham.
