Ellen Potts
October 16, 2009
Ellen was born June 4, 1929 in Marshfield, Oregon. In her toddler years she was given the pet name of “Nuni”, by her mother. Anyone who knew and loved her called her Nuni.
In 1949 she married Robert H. Potts and had three children. Bentina in 1953, John in 1954-1958, and Martin in 1957. In 1992 her husband Robert died.
She is survived by her children Bentina and Martin, as well as one grandchild, Marty.
Nuni loved to camp, knit, garden, and sew. She could tell a ghost story around the campfire that would “scare the pants off” your average 10 year old. Everyone she loved received knitted slippers for Christmas atleast once, and her gardens were so beautiful they were referred to as “botanical gardens”. She was a star gazer and could often be found late at night sitting with her telescope and made sure all her family and friends saw Saturn’s rings and knew where Orion and Polaris could be found. Her husband Robert was an avid clam digger and she became so adept at shucking clams her close family gave her the honorary title “Freda the Clam Queen”. She made the best blackberry pie in the world. She loved to go to Reno and down to The Mill and as her family could attest was one of the “rare ones” who made a profit from it.
Nuni lived her life like she wanted and died quietly in her sleep on Oct. 14, 2009. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
