A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6, at Asbury Methodist Church in Eugene for Gary G. Stanfield of Eugene, who died Nov. 18 of complications from diabetes. He was 69.
He was born July 15, 1940, in Council, Idaho.
He graduated from Willamette High School. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1958 to 1960. He was a gunsmith.
Survivors include his mother, Deloris Madsen of Eugene; a daughter, Cindy Pace of Richmond, Texas; two sons, Greg of Medford and Darren of Olympia, Wash.; two stepdaughters, Jean Whittall of Eugene and Betty Hamilton of Spokane; a stepson, Gordon Madsen of Roseville, Calif.; a brother, Richard of Medford; and four grandchildren.

Nikki Rosa of Creswell died Nov. 22 of cancer. She was 37. A private memorial Mass will be at St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church in Creswell.
She was born Oct. 8, 1972, in Toledo, Ohio, to Jerry and Mary Urbanski Fisher. She marrried Bryan Rosa on June 24, 1995, in Sylvania, Ohio.
She graduated from Sylvania Northview High School in Sylvania.
She was a teller at Southern Oregon Federal Credit Union in Creswell for four years.
Survivors include her husband; her parents of Creswell; and two brothers, Scott Fisher of Creswell and Jeff Fisher of Corona, Calif.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2, at St. Alice Catholic Church in Springfield for Helen Rose McLeod of Springfield, who died Nov. 20 of age-related causes. She was 93. A private committal service is planned by the family.
She was born May 16, 1916, in Sheboygan, Wisc., to Frederick and Anna Wegman Shindler. She married Robert Neil McLeod on Jan. 15, 1939, in Sheboygan. He died Feb. 27, 1984.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include four sons, Gary and Ronald, both of Springfield, Robert of Eugene and Richard of Dundee, Ore.; and seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, at Springfield First Christian Church for Mildred A. Holly of Eugene, who died Nov. 19 of age-related causes. She was 87.
She was born Oct. 14, 1922, in La Grande. She married William Holly on April 13, 1941, in La Grande. He later died.
She received a bachelor’s degree from Linfield College in 1994, graduating summa cum laude at age 71.
She was a homemaker and a curriculum specialist at Lane Community College.
Survivors include a daughter, Jeanine Holly of Portland; two sons, William Holly II, of Turlock, Calif., and Norman Holly of Omaha, Neb.; a sister, Marge Rogers of Pendleton; and eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

James D. Shaffer

James D. Shaffer of Eugene died Nov. 17, 2009, of emphysema at age 58. A private service will be held later.
He was born Feb. 26, 1951, in San Gabriel, Calif., to Hubert and Dorothy Shaffer.
He graduated from Gary High School in Pomona, Calif., in 1967. He was a forklift driver at States Veneer for more than 15 years.
Survivors include his mother, Dorothy Johnson of Harrisburg; two daughters, Charity “C.J.” Wegner-Bartels and Brandy Prince, both of Wisconsin; two sons, Sam Shaffer of California and Tim Anderson; two brothers, Mike Moore of Coburg and Anthony Moore of Harrisburg; and two sisters, Janice Malpass of Harrisburg and Nancy Shaffer Perez of California.

A memorial service will be held in March in Bakersfield, Calif., for Virginia L. Duggan of Springfield, who died Nov. 17 of leukemia. She was 90.
She was born Jan. 14, 1919, in Joplin, Mo., to Oren and Zona Brewer Downs. She married William D. Duggan on Dec. 7, 1941, in Jefferson City, Mo. She graduated from high school, and worked as an office manager in a department store for 15 years.

Jane Marie DeGidio

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25, at Buell Funeral Chapel in Springfield for Jane Marie DeGidio of Eugene, who died Nov. 20 of complications from breast cancer. She was 63. A celebration of life will be held later.
She was born Nov. 14, 1946, in Minneapolis to John and Alma Brama Stepanchak. Joe Baiamonte was her life partner for eight years.
She was a longtime University of Oregon staff member, starting in 1969 as a counselor. She later held positions that included dean of students, director of the office of student retention programs, and associate vice president for student academic affairs. She left to become dean of students at Zayed University in the United Arab Emerites.
Survivors include her mother; a daughter, Jomel Antoinette McNair of Seattle; two sisters, Joanne Evon Stepanchak-McNair of San Diego, Calif., and Jill Cari Parent of Columbia Hights, Minn.; and one grandchild.

Terry Connolly

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 29, at the Mohawk High School gym for Terry Martin Connolly of Springfield, who died Nov. 18 of complications from heart surgery. He was 66. A potluck at the Mohawk Valley Fire Station will follow the service.
He was born April 25, 1943, in Anaconda, Mont., to Joseph and Charlotte Pentilla Connolly. He married Vicki Hallford Aug. 10, 1962, in Springfield.
He graduated from Mohawk High School. He worked as a sales consultant for Kendall Auto Group, and was in the automobile business since 1964. He helped form the Mohawk Valley Fire District in 1977, and was president of the district until his death.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Marie Warren of Springfield; two sisters, Jennifer Gill of Rialto, Calif., and Pam Turpin of Springfield; two brothers, Dan of Springfield and Mike of San Bernardino, Calif.; and three grandchildren. A daughter, Karen Austin, died previously.

A celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 29, at The Blind Pig in Eugene for James Robert Knoedler of Eugene, who died Nov. 19 of pancreatic cancer at age 69.
He was born Aug. 5, 1940, in Nevis, Minn., to Max and Gladys Craig Knoedler. He married Bess Rollofson on July 14, 1985, in Reno, Nev.
He graduated from Eugene High School in 1958. He served 25 years in the U.S. Navy, four in active duty and 21 in the reserves. He was a U.S. Postal Service letter carrier for 34 years.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Julie Knoedler of Eugene; a son, Jeff of Harrisburg; a stepdaughter, Mindy Carmichael of Springfield; two sisters, Alice Gates of Eugene and Margaret Basset of Colorado; and two grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 24, at Glenwood Christian Church for Judy G. Thompson of Cottage Grove, who died Nov. 19 of heart failure. She was 66.
She was born March 22, 1943, in Olympia to Ervin and Doris Dragoo Hicks. She married Charlie Thompson in 1965 in Weiser, Idaho. He died in 1990. She graduated from Coburg High School in 1961, and was a homemaker.
Survivors include her mother of Eugene; three children, Dondi Smith and Lisa Henderson, both of Cottage Grove, and Lona Thompson of Corvallis; two sisters, Sherry Hulse of Cottage Grove and Anna “Susie” Clark of Eugene; four brothers, Ervin Hicks Jr. of McMinnville, Stanley Hicks of Cottage Grove, Paul Hicks of Madras and Kimble Hicks of Camas, Wash.; and five grandchildren. A brother, Michael, died previously.
