Charles McMackins III

Charles “Charlie Tuna” McMackins III of Creswell died Jan. 24 of complications from congestive heart failure. He was 74. A memorial service will be held later.

He was born Oct. 29, 1935, in Spokane, Wash., to Charles II and Frances Jones McMackins. He married Evanell Williams in 1965, in California, and they later divorced. He married June Newan in 1972 in Tacoma, Wash., and they later divorced. He married Bertha Maack in 2002 in Tacoma.

He worked at several trades, including as a longshoreman in Washington and on the mail crew at the airport.

Survivors include his wife, of Puyallup, Wash.; a daughter, Rayanna Rice of Creswell; two sons, Farrell McMackins and Roman McMackins, both of San Diego, Calif.; and five grandchildren.
