James Allred

James “Del” Allred of Leaburg died Feb. 22 of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. He was 67. A memorial gathering will be held later.

He was born Aug. 20, 1942, in Plainview, Texas, to James and Mary Jo Henry Allred. He married Carol Kamerer on Sept. 15, 1988, in Las Vegas, Nev.

He graduated from high school in Glendale, Calif.

He retired after 13 years as a bus operator for the Lane Transit District.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Lisa Dungan of Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.; three stepsons, Dan Kamerer of Garibaldi, Rob Kamerer of Spokane and Ryan Kamerer of Everett, Wash.; a sister, Delma Meyers of Anchorage; and 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Cleve Hadnott, Jr.

Cleve B. Hadnott, Jr., of Eugene, died Jan. 31 of a heart attack. He was 69. No service is planned.

He was born April 4, 1940, in New Bern, N.C., to Cleve, Sr., and June Staub Hadnott.

He attended Lane Community College and served in the Army and the Navy in the early 1960s.

He was a counselor for Sponsors, Inc., for 17 years before retiring a year ago.

Survivors include a daughter, La Wanda Hadnott of North Bend; a son, Cleve Hadnott III, of Eugene; a sister, Peggy Hadnott of Michigan; and one grandson.

Sandra L. Collett of Pleasant Hill died Feb. 8 of lung cancer. She was 72. No service is planned.

She was born Jan. 12, 1938, in Pennsylvania. She married Donald Collett on May 21, 1979, in Reno, Nev.

She had a high school education. She served in the Army as a radiology technician.

She was a self-employed business owner and a bookkeeper.

Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Susan Barnhart of Eugene; two stepdaughters, Misti Bruns of Walla Walla, Wash., and Mikki Collett of Olympia; two sisters, Judy Rowley of Lakeland, Fla., and Sherry Peterson of Pennsylvania; a brother, Bobby Ohls of Jamestown, N.Y.; and five grand­children and one great-grandchild.

Hannah Mae “Sherry” Stevens of Springfield died Feb. 14 of age-related causes. She was 77. No service is planned.

She was born Oct. 20, 1932, in Astoria. She married Larry Stevens on Sept. 12, 1966, in Payette, Idaho.

She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband; three children, Linda Jones of Eugene, Kim Duerst of Cottage Grove and Sandy Stevens of Springfield; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Lee Combs Sr., of Springfield died Feb. 5 of heart failure. He was 68. No service is planned.

Lee was born May 1, 1941, in Baker, to William and Eleanor Tiernie Combs.

He was disabled.

Survivors include three daughters, Kelly Barrera of Springfield, Cathylee Iwai of Salem and Theresa Combs of Portland; a son, Lee Combs, Jr., of Medford; a sister, Jolene Tappo of Hermiston; a brother, William Combs, Jr., of Benton City, Wash.; and seven grandchildren.

Michael Johnson

A memorial service will be at noon Saturday, Feb. 20, at the Eugene First Evangelical Church for Michael Johnson of Eugene, who died Feb. 14 at age 42.

He was born Aug. 13, 1967, in Carroll, Iowa, to Walt and Lola Mai Johnson. Christina Lay was his life partner for 21 years.

He worked at Mid Valley Glass for the past nine years.

Survivors include his life partner; his mother; two sisters, Diane Johnson of Ames, Iowa, and Joan Bougetz of Portland; and three brothers, Thomas of Ogden, Iowa, Russ of Jewell, Iowa, and Paul of Radcliffe, Iowa.

Jackson Kephart, Sr.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, at Northwood Christian Church in Springfield for Jackson C. Kephart, Sr., of Springfield, who died Feb. 10 at age 79. His family did not list the cause of death.

He was born Jan. 21, 1931, in Murphy, N.C., to Thomas Kephart and Pauline Marcus. He married Vera Dagman April 1, 1950.

He attended Springfield High School.

He was a home builder, real estate broker, land developer and drove a truck for his own trucking company, which was taken over by his son. He served as president of home builders associations at the county, state and national levels, and was a board member of the Rainbow Water District.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Gwendolyn Kephart and Nancy McBee, both of Springfield; a son, Jackson Kephart, Jr., of Springfield; two sisters, Emily Kaiser of Eugene and Loretta Platz of Florence; and eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 19, at Laurel Grove Cemetery in Springfield for Ralph D. Dunlap of Cottage Grove, who died Feb. 12 of heart failure. He was 74.

He was born Aug. 26, 1935, in Inola, Okla, to Clarence and Rachel Ragan Dunlap. He married Kathy Williams on Feb. 4, 1982, in Reno, Nev.

He was a truck driver, and drove heavy equipment, log trucks and dump trucks.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Donna Teixeira of Riverdale, Calif., and Becky Cattuzzo of Caruthers, Calif.; two sons, Donald and Danny, both of Freso, Calif.; a sister, Sue Leard of Nevada; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A son, Dennis, died previously.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church for Delena Dent of Eugene, who died Feb. 12 of causes related to dementia. She was 78.

She was born Dec. 28, 1931, in Foster, Ark., to Joe and Hazel Singleton Qualls. She married Delvin Dent on Oct. 21, 1972, in Reno, Nev.

She worked 20 years for Alexanders, and another 20 years as a bookkeeper for Dr. Jarret.

Survivors include her husband; a stepdaughter, Tamera Clark of Springfield; and two grandchildren.

Karl Smart of Eugene died Feb. 11 of Alzheimer’s at age 79. No service is planned.

He was born Feb. 8, 1931, in Lebanon, Mo., to Harry and Bettie Rodgers Smart. He married Virginia Larson on Dec. 25, 1983, in Eugene.

He served in the Army. He worked as general manager for ARA Services.
