    Doug and Darla,
Words cannot express our sorrow for your loss. Your son has become a member of our family in so many ways. He always spoke of home with love and longing, and told us how being with our family reminded him of home. I’m grateful that we were able to give him a little of a homey atmosphere so far away such as it was. Believe me when I say that we are grieving with you.
You have so much to be proud of. He was a fine young man and has gone out of his way to help these young men and women find their way.
Our family will miss him always.

I lift up special prayers for your family. “Sgt Hake” has been in my home several times. He was a great influence on my son, whom he recruited from Malakoff High school. He helped Daniel to realize a potential in himself that he had never realized before. He was there throughout Daniel’s senior year giving him encouragement and support. I have pictures from Daniel’s graduation standing with Sgt Hake. He will always be remembered and loved by my family.

This young man was a recruiter to my nephew in Fairfield, Texas. He became a very important person in my nephew’s life, and was very proud of his service. I met him at my nephew’s high school graduation. He proudly wore his Cavalry Uniform on a hot Texas summer evening. My sincere condolences to his family.

    To Nick’s family,

I’m very sorry for your loss. Nick was one of my soldiers when I was stationed in germany in ’02. Nick was my driver during our Iraq tour in ’03-’04. He was a great kid and one of the ones I could always depend on to get the job done.

I hope your family can find some sort of healing through these tough times. Remember Nick’s service to his country, which I know he was proud of and you must be too.

See you on the high ground Nick!

    Rest in Peace brother.

I knew Nicholas while we were stationed together in Germany. He was one of my most reliable soldiers. He was a go to guy when I needed something done and done right. As one of his leaders we were not suppose to hang out together, but that was hard to do with a guy like him. He will be missed by all that knew him. Thank you Nic for your sevice and most of all your friendship.
    RIP Bro…

My deepest condolences to his family. I was stationed with him in Germany when he was fresh out of basic training. He wasn’t in my platoon, but I got to spend a lot of time with him on our off-time. Great person.

    Darla,
Often over the many years since we’ve been in touch, I’ve thought of you and wondered how you were doing. I never in a million years expected to stumble upon this news.
I fondly remember our relationship from all those years ago.
My heart goes out to you reading about Nick. I know he meant the world to you. I remember us often trading stories from when the kids were little. I remember you telling me how Patrick Haiduk would come and hang with you guys, and how great that was for Nick.
    My thoughts are with you….
