Mary Wooldridge

A celebration of life will be held at noon July 24 at Emerald Park in Eugene for Mary Lou Wooldridge of Eugene, who died March 11 of lung cancer. She was 74.

She was born July 26, 1935, in Worland, Wyo., to Virgil and Mary Martin Seghetti. She married Jack Layton Wooldridge on July 21, 1968, in Winnemucca, Nev.

She was a millworker at Triangle Veneer for 18 years. She also worked as a cashier and at Mouldings Inc. in Roseburg.

Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Carol Massengill of Eugene, Cindy Fields of Henderson, Nev., and Mila Stafford of Elmira; a son, James of Junction City; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. A son, Jerry Marquardt, died previously.

Stanley Corrion

Stanley R. “Stan” Corrion of Junction City died March 9 of respiratory failure. He was 75. No service is planned.

He was born June 7, 1934, in Burlington, Wash., to Roy and Winona Penley Corrion. He married Sheila Hodges on March 4, 1957, in Eugene.

Corrion served in the U.S. Navy. He owned and operated a trucking company.

Survivors include his wife; and three sons, Doug of Colorado Springs, Colo., Rob of Junction City and Shawn of Bend. A daughter, Deborah Ann Avakian, died previously.

Bonnie Menz

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. March 27 at the Church of the Nazarene in Cottage Grove for Bonnie J. Menz of Springfield, who died Feb. 26 of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. She was 68.

She was born July 25, 1941, in Beatrice, Neb., to Ralph and Ella Baker Cumpston. She married Arnold Menz on Sept. 19, 1964, in Vancouver, Wash.

She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Brian and Daryl, both of Springfield; two daughters, Rachel Bonney of Springfield and Debra Hopkins of Cottage Grove; her parents, Cliff and Ella Sherwood of Dallas; three brothers, Jerry Cumps­ton and Ronnie Cumps­ton, both of Portland, and Richard Levisee of Post Falls, Idaho; a sister, Judy Farmer, of Lebanon; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. A grandchild, Rebecca Menz, died July 2, 1999.

Michaele Feeney

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 20, at Eugene Christian Fellowship for Michaele “Mickey” Feeney of Coburg, who died March 13 of cancer. She was 62.

She was born Jan. 31, 1948, in Centralia, Wash., to Gene and Hazel Rhyner Roselius. She married Jim Feeney on June 9, 1972, in Anchorage.

She graduated with an elementary education degree from Lewis & Clark College. She worked as a teacher for three years and then was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Brian and John, both of Portland; two daughters, Kelly Fenley of Springfield and Mary Anne Feeney of Portland; two brothers, Tom Roselius of Anchorage and Scott Roselius of Fairbanks; and three grandchildren.

Rose Truckenbrodt

Rose V. Truckenbrodt of Eugene died March 6 of age-related causes. She was 84. No service is planned.

She was born May 8, 1925, in Cleveland to John and Rosa Sorma Vanchieri.

She was a homemaker.

Survivors include two sons, John and Carl; two grandchildren; and numerous grandchildren.

Margaret Goree

Margaret K. Wood Goree of Eugene died March 2 of pneumonia. She was 96. No service is planned.

She was born Dec. 1, 1913, in Auburn, Wash., to Frank and Catherine Brengman Hiester. She married Carlton Wood on Nov. 24, 1937, in Seattle. He died in 1967. She married Earl Goree in 1981 in Reno, Nev. He died in 1981.

She graduated from Auburn High School. She worked in retail sales, as a secretary and as a architectural designer for custom homes.

Survivors include two daughters, Marilyn Wood Scott of West Linn and Sharon Wood Towery of Lorane; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Inurnment will be at Los Gatos Memorial Park in California. Arrangements by Andreason’s Cremation & Burial Service in Springfield. Remembrances to Greenhill Humane Society or the American Heart Association.

Jose Navarro-Garcia

A Rosary and Funeral Mass were celebrated Monday, March 15, at St. Alice Catholic Church in Springfield for Jose Israel Navarro-Garcia of Springfield, who died March 8th.  He was 23.  There will be a visitation at Buell Chapel on Monday, March 22nd from 4-8pm, and then he will be returned to his home  in Durango, Mexico for burial.

Jose was born Nov. 18, 1986, in Durango, Mexico, to Jose Navarro and Herminia Navarro-Garcia.  His family moved here when he was in kindergarden and he grew up in Springfield, attending elementary, middle and high school here.

Jose was forest fire fighter and a wonderful young man with many, many friends.  He will be dearly missed.

He leaves behind his parents; brother Charlie of Springfield; sisters Jessica Navarro-Garcia and Samantha Navarro-Garcia, both of Springfield; grandparents Angel Garcia and Juliana Hernandez and Carlos Navarro and Amada Rubio, all of Durango; and a host of people who cared deeply.

Virginia Lee

A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, March 14, at Junction City Retirement Center for Virginia Carman Lee of Junction City, who died March 5 of heart failure. She was 79.

She was born May 2, 1930, in Portland to William and Margaret Rovey Lee.

She attended Highland Grade School and Jane Adams High School in Portland.

Survivors include many nieces and nephews.

Harriet Messenger

A celebration of life for Harriet Messenger will be held at Buell Chapel, 320 Sixth Street, Springfield at 3:00 pm on Saturday, March 20th.  Harriet died on March 16 at McKenzie-Willamette Medical Center.  She was 90 years old.

Harriet Adel Reynolds was born on May 30, 1919 in Union, Washington, which became part of Chehalis.  She was one of five children of Homer Reynolds sand Carrie Guier Reynolds.  Harriet’s ancestors arrived in Oregon on wagon trains prior to 1872.

Harriet attended Centralia High School in Washington.  She loved going to her high school reunions over the decades.

She married Donald Jones in 1936, and had a daughter by him, Sally Donna, in 1942.  Harriet married Si Messenger in 1947.  Si died in Springfield in 1987.

Harriet was a meatcutter by trade.  She worked for Irish-McBroom Packing Company and Mohawk Meatpacking.  She had an exemplary work ethic and friendliness with her co-workers.

Survivors include a sister, Hazel, of Westby, Wisconsin, and her daughter, Sally, of Ashland.

Mel Smith

 A celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m. March 19 at Buell Funeral Chapel in Springfield for Melvin “Mel” or “Tink” Smith of Eugene, who died Feb. 25 of pancreatic cancer. He was 73.

He was born June 4, 1936, in Sedro-Woolley, Wash., to Raymond and Ellen Straight Smith. He married Lannie Morgan in 1978 in Reno, Nev.

A high school graduate, he served in the Army in Germany from 1957 to 1959. He worked in marketing and sales and worked at Allied Advertising for seven years, retiring in 2007.

Survivors include his wife; his brothers, Marvin of Kennewick, Wash., and Richard of Gold Beach; and by his much-loved four-legged friends, Sydney and Olivia.
