Cassandra Watkins

Cassandra Nicholette Louise (Hunt) Watkins passed away on June 28th, 2010 at the age of 31.  She was born on March 24th, 1979 in Eugene, Oregon.  She graduated from Willamette High School, in Eugene, in 1997.

She was a CNA-CMA and worked at South Hills Rehabilitation Center.  Her hobbies were music, camping and fishing.  Cassandra loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her parents, Danny and Linda Sue Hunt of Eugene; her daughter, Savannah “Savvy” Hunt of Eugene; sisters Cashanne Logsdon and Sarah Hunt, both of Eugene  and Maria Stewart of Harrisburg; a brother, Bryan Pugh of Elroy, Wisconsin; grandparents Catherine Watkins of Eugene and Troy and Pauline Hunt of Eugene; and by numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. 

Cassandra will be deeply missed by her family and friends.  A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Dorothy Allgaier

Dorothy Allgaier was born November 29, 1924 in Norfork, AR to Ed and Mary (Small) Simpson.  She grew up there, graduating from high school and marrying Roy Geddis there in November 1941.

Roy died in 1964.  She married Ralph Leland Allgier in Aberdeen, WA the following year.  He passed in 1992.

She passed away June 17, 2010 at Riverbend Hospital in Springfield, OR of cancer.  Dorothy was 85. 

She leaves behind her daughter, Royce Biswell of Salt Lake City and her son, Leroy Geddis of Springfield; siblings Imogene Stevens of Othello, WA, Louise Lloyd of Green Forest, AR, Hattie May Wilson of Springfield, AR, O.C. Simpson of Norfork, AR, Bobby Simpson of Elizabeth, AR and Earl Simpson of Maryland Heights, MO.  She also leaves behind 11 grandkids, 28 great-grandkids and 17 great-great-grandkids.  In addition to her husbands she was also preceded in death by one grandson, Scott Biswell.

Funeral services for Mrs. Allgaier will be Tuesday, June 22nd at 10 a.m. at Buell Funeral Chapel in Springfield, Oregon.  There will be a visitation the previous day, Monday, from 1-4 p.m.  Burial will be in Springfield Memorial Gardens.  Those wishing to make a difference in Dorothy’s honor may make contributions to the American Cancer Society.

Marian Bull

Marian Margaret Bull was born September 19, 1921 in Buffalo, Wyoming to Leon and Lida (May) Grant.  She passed away June 15, 2010 at the age of 88.

Marian grew up and graduated from high school in Buffalo.  During WWII she was an inspector at the Pacific Coast Borax plant in Wilmington, California.  Years later she worked as an inspector for Agripac, a produce cannery in Eugene, OR.  But Marian’s walk with the Lord and her family were always the most important things in her life.
 
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester David Bull, Jr.
 
Marian’s family cherish her memory. She leaves behind Marilyn, Marian Bull obituaries her daughter, and Jim, her son-in-law of Pleasant Hill. Her son, Allen, of Nashville, North Carolina, preceded her in death.
 
Marian has four granddaughters: Michelle of Naples, Florida, Christine of San Francisco, California, Jennifer of Nashville, North Carolina, and Catherine of Portland, along with her grand-sons-in-law, Tony Myers and Ben Ruano.
 
Her three great-grandchildren are Mason, Claire, and Caroline.

A funeral for Marian will be held Saturday, June 19th at 1:00 pm at Creswell Christian Center in Creswell, Oregon, and there couldn’t be a more appropriate place–she was their cornerstone.  She will be buried next to Lester at Springfield Memorial Gardens in Springfield, Oregon.  Those wishing to make a difference in her memory may make contributions to Creswell Christian Center, 635 Holbrook Lane, Creswell OR 97426.

Carman Wray

A celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, June 17, at Glenwood Christian Church for Carman P. Wray of Eugene, who died June 13 at age 46.

Carmen was born July 10, 1963, in Charleston, S.C., to Orville and Maria Wray.

She leaves behind her companion, Mark De Land; her parents; a grandmother, Violet Olson; five children, Crystal Thomas of Eugene, Jeremey Warner of Harrisburg, Garret Wray and Ella Stewart, both of Springfield, and Victor Wray of Eugene; two sisters, Cathy Crafts of Springfield and Karen Oliver of Eugene; two brothers, Eric of Pendleton and Rod of Springfield; and eight grandchildren.

Abbey Elliott Kirby

Abbey Rose Elliott Kirby of Eugene died June 3 of prematurity. She was two hours old.

She leaves behind her loving parents, Judy Elliott and Troy Kirby; a brother, Trevor Kirby and grandparents Joseph Elliott, Irma Rowland and Melvin Kirby.

Ruby “Billy” Eller

  Ruby Ann was born in Lynch, Nebraska on April 13, 1923 to Ora (pronounced “Orie”)and Susie Barnes.  She had an older brother who lived only a short time, and Ruby was born the next year.  From then on she was an only child.  Her father wanted another boy so Ruby told him that she would be his little boy and he nicknamed her “Billy” and that was her name from then on.
 
Ruby graduated from Independence High School in Independence, Oregon.  If you ever go to the museum in Independence there is a picture of her and her classmates hanging on the wasll as the Class of 1941.  The museum used to be a church where Ruby played the organ on Sunday mornings.
 
She was one class away from being a school teacher when fate stepped in and she chose to become Mrs. Marvin Eller.  She married the love of her life on August 29, 1942 at the sweet young age of 19.  Coincidently, she and her beloved Marvin were born on the same day, in the same year, two hours and a state apart.
 
They were happily married for almost 62 blissful years.  They lived in many towns and states, finally settling in Anderson, California until the death of Marvin on April 23, 2004.  Ruby spent the remainder of her life in Eugene, Oregon with her son Ronald and his wife Mona.
 
For six years Ruby missed her husband every day.  She never stopped thinking about him or talking about him.  They shared a great love for each other and on Sunday, June 13, 2010 their reunion in heaven must have been that of pure happiness.
 
She will be missed by all who knew her.
 
She leaves behind her loving children, Ronald Eller and his wife Mona, Cheryl Eller, Karyn Enriquez and Ronnie Eller and his wife Pam; four much-loved grandkids and six precious great-grandkids.
 
Funeral services were held at Buell Chapel in Springfield, Oregon.  Interment will be in the family plot in Anderson Cemetery in Anderson, California, next to Marvin.  Those wishing to make a difference in her memory may make contributions to Volunteers in Medicine.
 

Anna Zent

June 14, 2010

A memorial service will be held later for Anna Barbara Zent of Eugene, who died June 10 of age-related causes at age 92.

She was born May 7, 1918, in Meadow, S.D., to George and Elizabeth Zahn Schell. She married Peter Zent on Oct. 13, 1945, in Lemmon, S.D.

She was a homemaker and worked as a domestic.

Survivors include four sons, Gerald of Eugene, Darrell of Springfield, Dennis of Billings, Mont., and Terry of Odessa, Texas; a daughter, Patricia Loose of Eugene; three sisters, Margaret Holgard of Lemmon, Johanna Rasmussen of Sturgis, S.D., and Betty Wiley of Hayes, Kan.; and 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Renee Steinmetz

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, June 18, at the First Baptist Church in Eugene for Renee Steinmetz of Eugene, who died May 28 of emphysema. She was 66.

She was born Oct. 22, 1943, in Mount Holly, N.J., to Arthur and Rhoda Fields Rockhill. She married William Steinmetz on Oct. 4, 1969, in Mount Holly. He died Aug. 21, 2002.

She worked as a software instructor at Lane Community College.

Survivors include a son, Richard Haines of Eugene; a daughter, Wendy Keeley of San Jose, Calif.; and five grandchildren.

Roscoe Sundahl

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 10, at Buell Funeral Chapel in Springfield for Roscoe J. Sundahl of Springfield, who died June 7 of a stroke. He was 88. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.

He was born June 23, 1921, in Kintyre, N.D., to Hjalmar and Anna Sundahl. He married Geri Kapron on Feb. 11, 1951. She died on Nov. 7, 1988.

He graduated from Springfield High School in 1939. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean War, and he retired from the Army Reserves as a major in 1962. He worked for the Corps of Engineers’ Portland district from 1946 to 1976, when he retired.

Survivors include two sisters, Ruth Koozer and Gladys Koozer, both of Springfield.

Elizabeth Cramer

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Friday, June 11, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Eugene for Elizabeth Cramer of Eugene, who died June 7 of age-related causes. She was 83. Visitation and recitation of the Rosary will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the church.  Inurnment will be at Mt. Calvary.

She was born June 15, 1926, in Papenburg, Germany, to Wilhelm and Katerina Brelage Walker. She married Everett Cramer on June 26, 1951, in North Bend. He died Nov. 23, 1962.

Elizabeth Cramer obituaries She was a homemaker and worked as a sales associate for Meier & Frank for 25 years.

Survivors include three daughters, Anne Krush of Cottage Grove, Therese Imse of Milwaukie and Betty Evans of Veneta; two sons, William and Michael, both of Eugene; two sisters, Katherine Dickinson of Leaburg and Schwester Engeltraud of Germany; 16 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

                                                             OMA’S ROLLS

                                 ¼ C Milk                                          2 pkgs dry yeast

                                 ½ C Sugar                                     1/3 C warm water

                                 1 tsp Salt                   3 eggs, at room temperature

                                 ½ C Butter                                      5 ½ – 6 ½ C flour

With love in your heart, combine milk, sugar, salt and butter in small saucepan.  Heat over low heat until butter melts and sugar dissolves.  Cool to lukewarm.

Disolve yeast in warm water.

Combine yeast water, lukewarm milk mixture, eggs and 5 cups of flour.  Mix and knead, adding more flour if needed.  Put into a greased bowl.  Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled in bulk – about 1 hour.

Punch down and shape into desired rolls.  Let rise again.

Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes.
