Patricia Friddle

Patricia E. Friddle of Eugene died May 28. She was 53. A graveside service is planned for later in Salem.

She was born Nov. 13, 1956, in Salem to George and Clarine Nelson Kelso. She married Greg Friddle in 1988 in Lake Tahoe. They later divorced.

She graduated from Astoria High School and worked as a home health caregiver.

Survivors include two sons, Josh Vandervort of Springfield and Jeremiah Vandervort of Astoria; life partner for more than 20 years, Billy Ray Vandervort; two stepsons, Donald Vandervort of Beaverton and Joseph Vandervort of Springfield; a stepdaughter, Hannah Vandervort of Beaverton; two brothers, Ed Kelso of Lebanon and Steve Kelso of Warrenton; three sisters, Robin Ward of Grants Pass, Janice Sopher of Longview, Wash., and Tracy Jackson of St. Helens; and her former husband, now of Naselle, Wash.

Burial will be at Restlawn Memory Gardens in Salem. Arrangements by Andreason’s Cremation & Burial Service in Springfield. Remembrances to Greenhill Humane Society.

Marcus Stafford

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m., June 6, at First Baptist Church of Springfield for Marcus “Marc” Stafford of Springfield, who died June 2 of cancer. He was 54.

He was born April 17, 1956, in Eugene, to Marcus and Alma Salisbury Stafford. He married his wife, Judy, on Dec. 5, 1992, in Springfield.

He attended Treasure Valley College and Ohio State. He was a quad operator at the Weyerhauser Coburg plant until he retired.

Survivors include his wife; his mother; a sister, Lola Hoeper; and two brothers, Mickey of Veneta and Marvin of Springfield.

Carl Smith

Carl Leacel Smith of Eugene died June 3 of lung cancer. He was 68.

He was born Dec. 27, 1941, in Portland.

He was a retired Navy corpsman, serving more than 22 years.

Survivors include two sons, Caleb and Avery; a daughter, Wendy Elkins; and three grandchildren.

Stanley Sawyer

Stanley “Buzz” Sawyer of Veneta died May 19 at age 60.

He was born Aug. 22, 1949, in Eugene.

He married Gail McKeown on June 13, 1970.

He graduated from Elmira High School and worked as an I-line operator at Trus-Joist.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Jeffrey of Eugene.

Gary Miner

A celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m., June 6, at Island Park in Springfield for Gary Donald Miner of Eugene, who died June 1. He was 65.

He was born Dec. 12, 1944, in Fort Smith, Ark., to Albert and Lueta Phillips Miner. He married Nancy Bishop in October 1965 in Reno, Nev.

He graduated from Thurston High School.

He was a millworker and a freelance artist.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, David of Eugene, and Jason and Nicholas, both of Springfield; two brothers, Wallace and Larry, both of Springfield; two sisters, Joyce Hagg and Debbie Shiffer, both of Springfield; and five grand­children.

Marta Staples

Marta S. Staples of Eugene died May 28 at age 93. A family memorial service will be later.

She was born May 5, 1917, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Joseph and Martha Cerny. She married Lloyd Staples on May 15, 1938, in New York.

She attended several years of college. She worked as a singer, pianist and a homemaker.

Survivors include a son, Douglas of Kalama, Wash.; a daughter, Kirstie Bushnell of Tucson, Ariz.; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Her husband died previously.

Suzanne Graff

Suzanne Graff, resident of Eugene, died Sunday the 6th of June, 2010.

Born in 1950 in Eureka, Ca. to the parents of Betty Jane Atwood and Leland Henry Domeyer of Yreka, Ca.. Following high school graduation in Yreka, Suzie attended Stephens College in Columbia, Mo.. She dedicated her working life helping children while working at Chavez Elementary School.  She was active in the Eugene Springfield Community Concert Band and loved working in her garden and spending quality time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Ronald James Graff whom she was married to for 37 years and two Children, Bobby Graff and Emily Uhlman both of Eugene; 2 Grandchildren Zoey and Kai; Her mother, Betty A. Dill,  3 sibblings…Michael Leland Domeyer, Craig Henry Domeyer, and Christine Marie Ayster and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at Eugene Washington Park Center Thursday, June 10, 2010 at 1:00 pm.

Clarice Nell

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 5, at Springfield First Christian Church for Clarice Aherin Nell of Roseburg, formerly of Lane County, who died May 27 of cancer. She was 76. Inurnment will be in Genesee, Idaho.

She was born May 24, 1934, in Genesee to Clarence and Ruby Roach Aherin. She married Jim Nell on Nov. 26, 1955, in Genesee.

She attended three years of college at Northwest Christian College. She worked for the telephone company and was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Jeff of Phoenix, Ariz., and Todd of Salem; a daughter, Heidi Hewett of Springfield; four sisters, Alice Mitchell of Everett, Wash., Patricia Kries of Kamiah, Idaho, Vera Baumgartner of Seattle and Leitha Menegat of Eugene; and five grandchildren.

Ann Louise Smith

Ann Louise Smith was born on November 11th 1942 in Salt Lake city Utah to David and Winnefred McDaniel; she passed away on May 26th 2010 from a pulmonary embolism. A public memorial will be held in Florence Oregon, in the month of June.
 
 Ann was married to Melvin Dean Smith for 43 years, they married July 5th 1967. Ann had two siblings, her brother David and her sister Pat. She had two children, Douglas Glen and Debra Lee. She had four grandchildren and one great grandson, Khalea Nicole, Courtney Ann, Cody Dean, Chantel Jordan and Dalton Wayne. 

Ann Louise Smith was a caregiver (adult and child foster care) she was also a homemaker. Annie loved all animals and working in her yard. Her most favorite place in the world was the Oregon coast, but most of all she loved to be with her family.
 
 Ann was a beautiful strong women who touch everyone in her path and she will forever be remembered and loved.

John Chambers

A celebration of life will be held later for John K. Chambers of Eugene, who died May 29 at age 51.

He was born Sept. 15, 1958, in Spokane to Robert and Phyllis Crump Chambers.

He graduated from Lapwai High School in Lapwai, Idaho, in 1976. He worked for 34 years for Union Pacific as a system gang foreman.

Survivors include his father; a daughter, Danielle Crelly; two sons, John Chambers Jr. and James Cosart; three brothers, Rick Pattison, Stephen Pattison and Christopher Chambers; two sisters, Kathlyn Hallibaugh and Robyn Crossley; and two grandchildren.
