YONCALLA — Ronald Woody of Yoncalla died Oct. 24 of cancer. He was 55. A memorial potluck is planned for a later date.
He was born April 19, 1955, in Cottage Grove to Horace and Carol Gordineer Woody.
He earned a GED and worked as a timber faller.
Survivors include his mother; three sons, Chris and Aaron, both of Cottage Grove, and Ronald Jr. of Anoka, Minn.; four sisters, Sandra Woolery and Pam Wiskow, both of Cottage Grove, Twila Lamb of Washington and Joyce Burkeen of Estacada; five brothers, Alvin DeSpain Jr. of Cottage Grove, Harold Roberts of Junction City, Jesse Woody of Salem, Terry DeSpain of Oklahoma and Ronald DeSpain of California; and several grandchildren. A son, Randy, died previously.

Elden James Crowson

SPRINGFIELD — A celebration of life will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, at the Springfield Nazarene Church for Elden James Crowson of Springfield, who died Oct. 26 at age 67.
He was born Sept. 29, 1943, in Eugene to James and Mildred Marteney Crowson. He married Lenora Brenneise on March 29, 1964, in Lodi, Calif.
He graduated from Monroe High School in 1962. He was a farmer, drove trucks and was owner of Applejack Trucking.
Survivors include his wife; his mother; four sons, Jody, Timothy, Bradley and Brent, all of Springfield; two brothers, Ronald of Eugene and Kevin of Monroe; a sister, Lauralee of Junction City; and seven grandchildren.

Norman Long

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, at Central Lutheran Church in Eugene for Norman Long of Eugene, who died Oct. 25 of pulmonary fibrosis. He was 87.
He was born Feb. 23, 1923, in Grant, Iowa, to Ernest and Fern Corbin Long. He married Odessa Schrader on Feb. 7, 1943, in Papillion, Neb.
He served in the Navy, Fleet Air Wing No. 14, from 1942 to 1946. He worked in the timber industry.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Pamela Long Griffin of Nevada City, Calif.; a son, Steven of Eugene; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Joan “JoAnn” Hite

Joan Hite of McMinnville, formerly of Eugene, died Oct. 24 of cancer. She was 81. At her request, no service will be held.
She was born July 17, 1929, in Powers to Art and Eila Watson MacMillan. She married Jim Hite on Sept. 11, 1965, in Eugene. He died in 2007.
She graduated from Coquille High School. She worked as a bookkeeper at PayLess Drug Stores and as comptroller at Mercury Equipment, the family business.
Survivors include two sons, Bill Bayne of McMinnville and Jim Bayne of Portland; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Virginia Crider

SPRINGFIELD — Virginia L. Crider of Springfield died Oct. 25 of age-related causes. She was 86. No service is planned.
She was born Dec. 14, 1923, in Missoula, Mont. She married James Crider in 1960 in Springfield. He died in 1992.
She was a homemaker.

Shirley Spradling

Shirley Mae Spradling of Eugene died Oct. 23 from age-related causes. She was 92.
She was born June 12, 1918, in Coleridge, Neb., to Earl and Pearl Scherer Cisney. She married Fred Spradling in 1947 in Fruita, Colo.
She worked as a beautician and a homemaker in Fruita before moving to Eugene in 1990.
Survivors include a son, Trent, of San Francisco, Calif., and five grandchildren. Her husband died in 1989.
No service is planned.

Jeffrey Poole

Jeffrey Mark Poole of Eugene died Oct. 18 from complications following a stroke. He was 38.
He was born July 11, 1972, in Bend to David and Maxine Carper Poole. He worked as a cook and bartender and had lived in Lane County for 18 years.
Survivors include two brothers, David and Michael, both of Bend; and two sisters, Rhonda Kirk of Chiloquin and Deborah Breadon of Redmond.

Elizabeth Mary Orlandi

SPRINGFIELD — A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Nov. 6 at the Eugene Eagles Lodge for Elizabeth Mary Orlandi of Springfield, who died Oct. 18 of heart failure. She was 87.
She was born April 29, 1923, in Albany, N.Y., to Perry and Celia DeDominiches DeBacco. She married George Orlandi on Jan. 30, 1945, in Ravena, N.Y. He died in 1993.
She was a homemaker who also worked in shipyards during World War II.
Survivors include three daughters, Penny Thompson and Tina Orlandi, both of Springfield, and Georgia Gonzalez of Eugene; a son, Vincent, of Eugene; and seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. A son, Irvin, died previously.

SPRINGFIELD — Marjorie Mae Norgard died Oct. 25 of age-related causes. She was 94.
She was born May 1, 1916, in Flaxville, Mont., to Henry and Elsie Grosse Gordon. She married Uno Norgard on May 1, 1937, in Lead, S.D. He died in 1992.
She had lived in the area about 50 years.
Survivors include two daughters, Deanna Allen of Eugene and Patricia Ray of California; and two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
No service is planned.

William E. Fox

SPRINGFIELD — William E. “Bill” Fox of Springfield died Oct. 21 from cancer. He was 66.
He was born July 7, 1944, in Lancashire, England, to Eugene and Catherine Fox. He married Mary Fox on May 4, 1968; she later died. Barbara Daubenspeck was his life partner for the past 10 years.
He attended school in Elk Mound, Wisc., and worked as a heavy equipment diesel mechanic. He had lived in the area for 31 years.
He is survived by his life partner, Barbara,; his mother, Catherine; a daughter, Kathleen Finfrock, of Eugene; a son, Billy Fox Jr. of Eugene; and two brothers, Patrick Fox, of Chatfield, Minn., and James Fox, of Elk Mound.
A service will be held at a later date.
