Tommy Allen

A celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, Nov. 22, at Gainsborough Community Clubhouse in Eugene for Tommy F. Allen of Eugene, who died Nov. 13 of complications from Parkinson’s disease. He was 78.

He was born Feb. 7, 1932, in Missoula, Mont., to Lois and Dale Mailen Allen. He and his wife, Dorothy, were married June 2, 1959, in Carson City, Nev.

He graduated from McKenzie High School. He served for eight years in the Naval Reserves. He worked for Chevron for 36 years.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Tami Luna and Jackie Ingram, both of Eugene; and Keli Heasley of Spring, Texas; a brother, Don of Eugene; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A grandson, Scott Phillips, died previously.

Margaret Ann Tart

SPRINGFIELD — The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Buell Funeral Chapel in Springfield for Margaret Ann Tart of Springfield, who died Nov. 13 of age-related causes. She was 78. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

She was born Feb. 2, 1932, in Blakely, Ark., to Theodore and Hazel Diggs Smith. She married John Tart on Dec. 5, 1951, in Springfield. He died Oct. 7, 1983.

She graduated from Springfield High School in 1949. She worked at Bell Telephone prior to her marriage. She was a homemaker.

SPRINGFIELD — A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 19, at Camp Creek Church for Janis Jill Morey Lee of Springfield, who died Nov. 13 of brain cancer. She was 63.

She was born Jan. 6, 1947, in Klamath Falls to Gilbert and Eva Morey. She married Sheridan Lee on May 1, 1965, in Klamath Falls.

She graduated from Klamath Union High School and held a bachelor’s degree from Oregon Institute of Technology. She worked for the public school system.

Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Amber Crabb of Victor, Idaho, and Jessica Thompson and Shalako Arrowwood, both of Springfield; a son, Natchez of Sacramento; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

SPRINGFIELD — Doris Ella Mikel of Springfield died Nov. 6 of age-related causes. She was 84. No service is planned.

She was born Feb. 9, 1926, in Ka-miah, Idaho, to William and Nina Mc-Roberts. She married Ira Mikel on April 9, 1944.

She was a waitress and homemaker.

Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Jean Mathison of Cottage Grove; a son, Steve of Springfield; a sister, Ethel Wicklander of St. Helens; two brothers, George McRoberts of Clearwater, Fla., and John McRoberts of Nampa, Idaho; six grand­children and six great-grand­children. A grand­daughter, Dawn Goldberg, died previously.

SPRINGFIELD — Spencer E. Babbs of Springfield died Nov. 9 of complications of kidney disease. He was 64. No service is planned.

He was born March 24, 1946, in Effingham, Ill., to Stanford and Delores Bishop Babbs. He married Suzanne Patrick on Jan. 29, 1966, in Mattoon, Ill.

He worked in sales until he retired in 1990.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Mike of Springfield; a sister, Debbie Cox of Mattoon; and two brothers, Terry and Doug, both of Mattoon.

Dennis Robert Wirth

SPRINGFIELD — Dennis Robert Wirth of Springfield died Nov. 8 from congestive heart failure. He was 68. A memorial service is planned for later.

He was born Aug. 2, 1942, in Burbank, Calif., to Robert and Marilyn Feldner Wirth and was raised by his mother and step­father, Bill Cowan. He married Clara Clark on Sept. 7, 1990, in Eugene.

He worked as a newspaper carrier.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Christina Hess of California; two sisters, Cheryl Bondy and Linda Vie, both of Eugene; a brother, Ron Bondy of Eugene; and three grandchildren.

A celebration of life was held Nov. 7 at Olive Plaza in Eugene for Marilyn Scott of Eugene, who died Nov. 4 of cancer. She was 85.

She was born Aug. 20, 1925, in Normal, Ill., to Frank and Helen Mc­Intyre Johnson.

She held a bachelor’s degree and worked as an accountant in the private and public sector, managed the King KO Inn in King Salmon, Alaska, retired from the state of Alaska, owned a bed and breakfast in Seaside and worked for FEMA until the age of 77.

Survivors include a son, David Luce of Anchorage; four daughters, Deb Scott of Eugene, Lisa Smart of Cottage Grove, Charilyn Grewe of Fargo, N.D., and Brenda Steed of Fresno, Calif.; a brother, Skip Johnson of Oxnard, Calif; 16 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. A daughter, Melinda Pappas, and grandsons Jeremy Luce and Charlie Kruse, died previously.

SPRINGFIELD — A memorial service will be held at noon Friday, Nov. 12, at the Veneta Alliance Church for Monique Elisa Guggenmos-Schmidt of Springfield, who Nov. 7 at age 41.

She was born Feb. 18, 1969, in Goleta, Calif.

She was a high school graduate and worked as a health and safety coordinator and trainer for OSHA and for Sherman Brothers Trucking.

Survivors include a son, KC of Springfield; and two sisters, Michele Boisacq of Redmond and Melissa Doyle of Elmira. A son, Nathanial, died previously.

Timothy Whalin

SPRINGFIELD — A celebration of life will be held later for Timothy R. Whalin of Springfield, who died Oct. 28 of lung cancer. He was 60.

He was born Feb. 28, 1950, in Detroit, Mich., to Leslie and Edith Tear Whalin. He married Carol Giorgi on July 20, 2001, in Cody, Wyo.

He was a high school graduate and headed the engineering department as administrative engineer for Petersen Pacific Inc., designing equipment for the timber industry.

Survivors include his wife; his stepmother, Lillian Whalin of Springfield; a daughter, Michele Whalin of Orlando, Fla.; two sons, David and Joel, both of Phoenix; a stepdaughter, Nedra Dewar of Springfield; a stepson, Neddy Giorgi of Springfield; four sisters, Sandra Scolari of Beaverton, Leslie Whalin of Michigan, Valerie McShefferty of Oceanside, Calif., and Andrea Kacin of Springfield; and 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
