Faye Mello

A private family service will be held for Circe “Faye” Mello of Eugene, who died Feb. 17 of age-related causes. She was 77.

She was born June 20, 1933, in Fort Smith, Ark., to Lee and Goldie Baxter Bollinger. She married Joe Mello on Sept. 8, 1985, in Modesto, Calif.; he died Oct. 2, 2002.

She attended Santa Rosa Junior College and became a licensed vocational nurse. She worked at convalescent centers, hospitals and VA facilities.

Survivors include a daughter, Deborah Hewitt of Sacramento; four sons, James Wall Jr. of Corning, Calif., Mark Wall of Modesto, Michael Wall of Red Bluff, Calif., and Sanford Trefethen of Eugene; a sister, Beverly Jacoby of San Diego; four brothers, Paul Bollinger of Bellingham, Wash., Alan Bollinger of Missouri, Johnny Bollinger of of Maryland and Chuck Bollinger of Woodland, Calif.; 20 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. A granddaughter, Circe, and two brothers, Steve and Mark, died previously.

Burial will be at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.

Candi Hernandez

Candi Louise Hernandez of Eugene died Feb. 19 of complications from pneumonia. She was 32. A memorial service will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 26.

She was born July 19, 1978, in Springfield to Wesley and Janice Blankenship Tommila. She married Sergio Hernandez on April 15, 2002, in Eugene.

She worked as a caregiver and was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband; her mother; two daughters, Selena Tommila and Tristan Rodriguez, both of Eugene; a son, Diego Hernandez of Eugene; four brothers, Wilhow Tommila of Kelso, Wash., Richard Tommila and Ray Tommila, both of Springfield, and James Tommila of Anderson, Ind.; a sister, Sharon Espinoza of Saginaw; and one grandchild.

Richard Kaufman

Richard E. Kaufman of Eugene died Feb. 16th of complications from a stroke.  He was 76.  No service is planned.

He was born September 4, 1934 in Detroit, Michigan to Adolph and Betty Francis Kaufman.  He graduated from Encinitas High School in Encinitas, California where he spent his early years.  He served in the Air Force from 1954 to 1957.

After many years as a Quality Engineer in the Aerospace Industry he retired from Northrup Corp. in 1992 and moved to Eugene in 1998.

He is survived by his wife, Sally; sons Timothy of Iowa and David of Colorado, daughter Susan of California, stepsons Russell, Christopher and Kevin of California, and sisters Gail and Debra Alt of California.  He is also survived by numerous gandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Remembrances may be sent to the American Lung Association or the MS Society.

Linda Rae Kilgore

Linda Rae Kilgore of Eugene died Feb. 7 at age 6.   A celebration of life is planned for 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26.

She was born March 13, 1943, in Boston to Cecil and Pauline Rogers Willis. She married Guy Noble in 1967. They later divorced. She married Dennis Kilgore. They later divorced.

She held a bachelor’s degree and Ph.D. in English from the University of Oregon. She launched and managed a board game business, End Games, until 1991. She was a professor at Lane Community College from 1992 until her retirement in 2009.

John Lee King

SPRINGFIELD — A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 25, at the National Guard Armory in Springfield for Sergeant John Lee King of the Springfield Police Department, who died Feb. 20 of a heart attack. He was 60.

He was born Oct. 17, 1950, in Santa Monica, Calif., to John and Margaret Kirby King. He married Barbara Hayes on March 15, 1969, in Klamath Falls.

He held an associate’s degree in law enforcement from Lane Community College and served here as an officer of the peace for 39 years.  John was a good man who touched a lot of lives.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Paul of Eugene; a daughter, Tina King of Springfield; a sister, Linda Frei of Klamath Falls; two brothers, David Ternus of Colorado and Rob Turnus of Vancouver, Wash.; and one granddaughter.

Inurnment will be at Springfield Memorial Gardens.

Doyel King

PLEASANT HILL — A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall in Springfield for Doyel Wayne King of Pleasant Hill, who died Feb. 13 of heart failure. He was 66.

King was born May 7, 1944, in Bill’s Place, Ark., to Seburn and Fannie King. He and his wife, Sheryl King, married on Oct. 9, 1998.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Kenneth King; a stepdaughter, Brandell Rodney; three brothers, Gene, Bill and Olen; a sister, Delores; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Bruce Harris

A celebration of life will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, at the Jasper Grange for Emery “Bruce” Harris of Eugene, who died Feb. 16 of complications from a stroke. He was 66.

Harris was born April 29, 1944, in Phelps, Wis., to Walter and Fern Perry Harris. He married Susan Wichert on Nov. 4, 1972, in McKenzie Bridge.

He graduated from Springfield High School in 1963 and studied auto mechanics at Lane Community College. He worked as a roofer and mechanic.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Michael Wichert of Eugene and Alonso Navarro and Nick Navarro, both of Springfield; two daughters, Shelley Tuski and Stephanie Harris, both of Eugene; a brother, Dennis Harris of McMinnville; a sister, Lorita Lattin of Springfield; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A son, Bruce Harris, died previously.

Margie Haines

Margie R. Haines of Eugene died Feb. 12 of cardiac arrest. She was 78. No service is planned.

Haines was born Jan. 16, 1933, in Pennsylvania to Henry and Ruth Manning Rauch.

She graduated from high school and went to nursing school. She was a licensed practical nurse who worked in hospitals and doctors’ offices in the East.

Survivors include two sons, Barry of Harleysville, Pa., and Robert of Santa Barbara, Calif.; two daughters, Vicky Saikali of Glendora, Calif., and Lori Ambo of Elmira; a brother, Henry Rauch of Quakertown, Pa.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Spas “John” LeCoe

VENETA — A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 23, at Christ Lutheran Church in Veneta for Spas Wesley “John” LeCoe of Veneta, who died Feb. 19 of leukemia. He was 82.

He was born Feb. 14, 1929 in Forsythe, Mont., to Spas and Amanda Foust LeCoe. He married Genieva Zehr on Dec. 29, 1967.

He served in the Navy from 1945 to 1947 and did college coursework. He was a federal meat inspector for the U.S. Department of Agriculture for 25 years.

Survivors include three sons, Bob of Redding, Brad of Spokane and Joe of Springfield; three daughters, Kathy and Wendy, both of Portland, and Tresa of Veneta; a sister, Alma of Billings, Mont.; 11 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Peter Aaron Dotts

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, at North West Neighbors for Peter Aaron Dotts of Eugene, who died Feb. 13 of heart failure. He was 69.

He was born Oct. 30, 1941, in Grants Pass to Harold and Nellie Zezza Dotts. He married Sarah Pitt on Feb. 19, 1966, in Winston.

He worked at various jobs, including boiler repairman, steamfitter, chrome bumper shop technician, truck driver, flagger and owner of a taxi service. He served in the Navy until receiving a medical discharge.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Lee, Michael and Joseph, all of Eugene; a brother, David of Grants Pass; a sister, Verginia Reed of Snohomish, Wash.; and two grandchildren.
