Herb Quintana

July 2, 2011

Herbert (Herb) Quintana, 60, passed away peacefully in his home on June 30, 2011 in Eugene, Oregon after a lengthy illness.  He was born on February 24, 1951 to Lola and Chris Quintana in Santa Rosa, New Mexico.

Herb is survived by Judy, his wife of 30 years; a son, CJ and a daughter, Katrina; two sisters, Josephine Marez of Santa Rosa, New Mexico & Charlotte Shaw of Paradise Valley, Arizona; a brother, Jerry Quintana of La Quinta, California; his father-in-law David Wright of Spring Hill, Florida; brother-in-law, Daniel Wright of Tampa, Florida; three sisters-in-law, Lynda Soloman of Loganville, Georgia, Lori Wright of NewPort Richy, Florida and Becky Peterswon of Tampa, Florida; and many wonderful friends.

Herb was a gourmet chef for the Arizona Country Club and chef for executives of Bank of Arizona in his earlier years.  He had an aptitude for cooking and as a young man learned many cooking skills from his mother, who was also an excellent cook.  Family and friens knew him as an exceptional cook.

After Herb and Judy moved to Eugene he worked as store manager for Knechts Auto Parts for over 20 years at various locations in Eugene and Springfield.  Most recently, he worked at the River Road location.

Herb was fluent in Spanish, therefore, he catered and assisted many Hispanics in the community; they all felt a tremendous kinship and affection for Herb.  In addition to helping his customers, he participated in Spanish speaking radio advertisements for the company.

Herb was an avid car enthusiast; he enjoyed rebuilding engines; one of his pride and joy projects was the 1965 Mustang.  He claimed it was one of the fastest cars in Eugene.  His brother Jerry recalls when he took the family sedan when he was a teenager and blew the transmission while street racing.

Herb was a very patient, personable and loving man.  He will be greatly missed by all….Herb Quintana obituaries
