FALL CREEK — Barbara Hart Norberg of Fall Creek died Sept. 25 of age-related causes. She was 89. No service is planned.
She was born Oct. 31, 1921, in Holton, Kan., to Frank and Lillian Thornton Durr. She married Harold Norberg on Jan. 9, 1942, in Carson City, Nev. He died June 2, 2006.
She held a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Oregon. She worked for the Beaverton School District.
Survivors include two daughters, Nena Lovinger of Fall Creek and Kristine Bowerman of Eugene; two sons, Ron of Eugene and Russ of Springfield; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Donald “Gordy” Besaw

The funeral will be held at 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Eugene for Donald “Gordy” Besaw of Eugene, who died Sept. 27 of leukemia. He was 80. Visitation and recitation of the Rosary will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Buell Funeral Chapel in Springfield.
He was born March 9, 1931, in Green Bay, Wis., to John and Petramella Van Den Huvel Besaw. He married Annamae Bins on Oct. 21, 1950, in Green Bay.
He graduated from Luxemburg High School in Wisconsin in 1949. He worked as a papermaker for 46 years at American Can and James River Corporation.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Donald and Randy, both of Eugene, and Daniel of Corpus Christi, Texas; five daughters, Kathy Mize and Lori Kast, both of Springfield, Cynthia Dixon and Cheryl Burr, both of Eugene, and Julie Hintz of Gresham; two sisters, Marjorie Horkman of Green Bay and Rosemary DeKeyser of Dyckesville, Wis.; 21 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Nancy Bailey-Lopez of Eugene died Sept. 24 of cancer. She was 60. A celebration of life is planned.
She was born March 2, 1951, in Portland to Warren and Germaine Kane Conger. She married Tony Lopez on Feb. 23, 2002, in Reno, Nev.
She worked for the state Employment Department as a business employment specialist for 30 years and retired in 2007.
Survivors include a daughter, Michelle Melvin; a son, Michael Bailey; and a brother, Doug Conger, all of Eugene.

SPRINGFIELD — Lucy E. Swogger of Springfield died Sept. 22 of respiratory failure. She was 62. A memorial service is planned.
She was born March 24, 1949, in Flint, Mich., to Donald and Martha Kuck Danielson. She married Jack Swogger on Feb. 9, 1975, in Long Beach, Calif.
She was a homemaker. In later years she travelled the country extensively with her husband, Jack, in the cab of his long-haul truck.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Jackie of Sacramento and Brian of El Paso, Texas; two brothers, Paul Danielson of Wood Lake, Calif., and Ted Danielson of Olivehurst, Calif.; three sisters, Tami Taylor of Lakewood, Calif., Ragnhild Luper of Signal Hill, Calif., and Melody Spencer of Redding, Calif.; and four grandchildren.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. today, Sept. 28, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Eugene for Gladys Hammar of Eugene, who died Sept. 25 of age-related causes. She was 90.
She was born June 21, 1921, in Seward, Neb. She married Don Hammar on Nov. 15, 1943, in Corvallis. He died previously.
Survivors include two daughters, Susan Moore of Bend and Kay Hammar of Seattle; and three grandchildren.

June Carol Bonsall of Eugene died Sept. 23 of pancreatic cancer. She was 74. A memorial service at the First Congregational Church in Eugene is planned for a later date.
She was born June 30, 1937, in Sonora, Calif., to Roy and Lena McKenzie Beaman.
She graduated from Sonora High School. She worked at Pacific Telephone & Telegraph for 12 years. She was an artist and owned an operated June’s Ceramic Supply and Bonsall’s Studio for 22 years.
Survivors include a son; a brother; six grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Two husbands, Kenelm Bonsall Jr. and Flavius Williams, and two daughters, Julie Ann Pinney and Zeena Lynn Pinney, died previously.

Clarke K. “Bill” Wilson of Eugene died Sept. 16 of pneumonia complicated by esophageal cancer. He was 81. A private family service is planned.
He was born Dec. 9, 1929, in Evanston, Ill., to Julian and Caroline Allen Hartley. He married Sydney Richardson on June 18, 1954, in Berkeley, Calif.
He held a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley. He served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Helena during the Korean War. He worked as a salesman for U.S. Steel, American Can and Bekeart Steel.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Loree Holmes and Carrie Carpenter, both of Eugene; a son, Bob of Oxford, Ohio; and three grandchildren.

SPRINGFIELD — Mary Jo McMacken of Springfield died Sept. 20 of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. She was 74. No service is planned.
She was born Nov. 13, 1936, in Topeka, Kan., to Frank and Bertha Harrower Wooten.
Survivors include two daughters, Laura Sheller and Leona Hillenbrand, both of Springfield; a son, Lyle Lewis of San Diego; 10 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. A son, Len Lewis, died in 1991.

Lois Teal Korn of Eugene died Sept. 6 of age-related causes. She was 89. A private memorial service was held at Valley West Health Center.
She was born Feb. 6, 1922, in Eugene to Edwin and Cora Kruger Wellman. She married Terry Korn on May 23, 1943, in Eugene. They divorced in 1970.
She graduated from Eugene High School and attended business school. She worked as a secretary at Cascade Middle School and was a personal secretary in the neuropsychology department at the University of Oregon.
Survivors include four daughters, Susan Peterson, Sally Ott and Anne Korn, all of Eugene, and Barbara Hills of Davis, Calif.; a sister, Willetta Woodson of Eugene; and three grandchildren. A daughter, Sharan Pirie, died previously.

DEXTER — Harold Ellington of Dexter died Sept. 17 of age-related causes. He was 96. No service is planned.
He was born May 17, 1915, in Arnegard, N.D., to Sigvart and Leonora Ellingson. He married Irene Peterson on Nov. 25, 1939, in Van Hook, N.D. She died previously.
He worked in carpentry and construction.
Survivors include a son, David of Dexter; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
