Bernadine Attilia “Bernie” Weiser

Bernadine Attilia “Bernie” Weiser of Eugene died Nov. 12 of cancer. She was 73. A celebration of life will be held in Montana.

She was born Oct. 3, 1938, in Butte, Mont., to Bernard and Constance Micheletti Silva. She married Jack Weiser on Aug. 30, 1959, in Butte.

She graduated from high school in Butte in 1956 and attended Carroll College in Helena, Mont. She owned and operated dance studios in Sidney, Mont., and Helena, Mont., and was the director of the Miss Montana Pageant. After moving to Eugene, she worked with her husband at State Farm and Smith & Crakes insurance agencies.

She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Connie Weiser-Hoggatt of Butte and Diana Davies of Eugene; a son, John of Eugene; a brother, James Silva of Butte; and six grandchildren.

Randy K. Smithee

Randy K. Smithee of Eugene died Nov. 10 of cancer. He was 59. A private family service is planned.

He was born April 26, 1952, in Oklahoma City to Donald and Cressida Kent Smithee.

He worked as a craftsman carpenter.

Survivors include his domestic partner for 22 years, Linda Lockhart; two daughters, Miranda Smithee of Washington and Carrie Lockhart of Springfield; two brothers, Stephen of Washington and Duncan “Max” of California; two sisters, Lea Smithee and Karen Woods, both of Washington; and four grandchildren.

CRESWELL — Barb Smith of Creswell died Nov. 12 of renal failure. She was 63. A private service is planned.

She was born Nov. 30, 1947, in Oakland, Calif., to Edward and Ruth Miller Giovanetti. She married Jeff Smith on Feb. 14, 1995, in Springfield.

She worked as a certified nursing assistant.

Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Angela Hansen of Eugene; a sister, Adele McKenna of Springfield; a brother, Dennis Giovanetti; and two grandchildren.

Debra K. Wilson of Eugene died Oct. 16 at age 53.

She was born Sept. 24, 1958, in Pleasant Hill. Her parents were Bob and Evelyn Wilson.

She worked for Eugene Water & Electric Board in energy management.

Survivors include her domestic partner, Ann Porterfield; and three brothers, Allen Falk Sr. of Pleasant Hill, Eric Falk II of Beaverton and Michael Herrington of Eugene.

SPRINGFIELD — Anna Lynn Maidment of Springfield died Nov. 6 of cancer. She was 53. No service is planned.

She was born Jan. 13, 1958, in Salem to Dianne Holgate and John Massa. She married James Maidment on May 29, 1976, in Salem.

She was a homemaker and worked as a cashier and retail manager and in catering.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Timothy Massa of Eugene; two daughters, Alice Maidment and Kathryn Maidment, both of Dexter; a sister, Michelle Massa of Weslaco, Texas; and two grandchildren.

William Hager

OAKRIDGE — A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, at Oakridge Catholic Church for William Hager of Oakridge, who died Nov. 13 of age-related causes. He was 84.

He was born Aug. 30, 1927, in Linton, N.D., to Ronnie and Barbara Jundt Hager. He married Irene Feist on April 5, 1952, in Bismarck, N.D. She died Dec. 30, 2002.

He worked as a farmer in North Dakota before moving to Oregon. He worked as a laborer for the railroad for 40 years and worked as a mason in the construction business.

Survivors include four daughters, Linda Norton of Cottage Grove, DeLila Murphy of Dorena, Cynthia Hager of Oakridge and Barbara Gonsalves of Oahu, Hawaii; three sons, Robert, Mark and DuWayn, of all Oakridge; three brothers; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. A son, Jerome Hager, died previously.

Gene Erickson of Eugene died Nov. 12 of heart failure. He was 72. No service is planned.

He was born June 20, 1939. He married Zoetta Whitteng on March 20, 1976, in Eugene.

He served in the military in Korea.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Shawn of Springfield and Kris of Eugene; a daughter, Michelle Menzenberg-Erickson of Junction City; a sister, Sue Goodridge of Anaheim, Calif.; and four grandchildren.

OAKRIDGE — A celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m. Dec. 3 at the First Baptist Church in Oakridge for Kent Gilbert Christensen of Oakridge, who died Nov. 7 of cancer. He was 74.

He was born Nov. 10, 1936, in Denver to Harvey and Helen Wallis Christensen. He married and his wife, Marie, were Dec. 19, 1959, in Denver.

He graduated from DeVry Tech and served in the Navy. He was self-employed and worked in upper management.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Steve of Oakridge; a brother, Neil of Springfield; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. A daughter, Karen, died previously.

A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Nov. 26 at her home in Eugene for Deanna R. Fleming of Eugene, who died Nov. 5 of pancreatic cancer. She was 63.

She was born Jan. 16, 1948, in Aberdeen, S.D. She married Howard Fleming on Oct. 22, 1964, in Newport.

She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Tami Bergmann of Fort Benning, Ga., and Kelli Sanchez and Traci Fleming, both of Eugene; three brothers, Eugene Corliss of Newport, Rex Corliss of Benton City, Wash., and Jeff Corliss of Warrenton; two sisters, Eunice Sutton of Roseburg and Jearene Kilmer of Lyons; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. A grandson, Andrew Fleming, died previously.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, at Buell Funeral Chapel in Springfield for Edna Betzsold of Eugene, who died Nov. 7 of pnuemonia. She was 98.

She was born Feb. 11, 1913, to Henery and Marry Ellen Wethern Betzsold.
