Dianna L. Whipple of Eugene died Dec. 12 of complications from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. She was 54. A remembrance is planned for a later date.
She was born Oct. 28, 1957, in Tacoma to Ernest and Evelyn Morse Smith. She married George Whipple on Aug. 12, 1991, in Eugene.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband; her mother, four daughters, Rosemary, Michelle, Susanna and Mary Lou; a son, Frederick; a brother, David Smith of Arizona; a sister, Cheryl Emtman of Arizona; and one grandchild.

Donna L. Frisbee of Eugene died Dec. 7 of cancer. She was 50. No service is planned.
She was born Dec. 29, 1960, in Texas. Her mother was Barbara Horton. She married John Frisbee 25 years ago in Fontana, Calif.
She graduated from Mira Loma High School in Riverside, Calif. She worked as a night auditor.
Survivors include her husband; four children, Ralph Osornio and Randy Frisbee, both of Eugene, Jeromy Shorter of Arizona and Jesse Frisbee of Cottage Grove; a sibling, Sharley Lee LaReau of Cottage Grove; and five grandchildren.

VENETA — Natalie Lovina Donaldson of Veneta died Dec. 14 of age-related causes. She was 89. A memorial service is planned at a later date.
She was born Aug. 11, 1922, in Coldwater, Mich., to Faye and Helen Abbott Warner. She married Samuel Donaldson on Sept. 21, 1946. He died Nov. 22, 2001.
She graduated from Western Michigan College in 1944. She owned a business with her husband.
Survivors include a son, Kirk of Eugene; a daughter, Karen Donaldson Feldmann of Waterford, Mich.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 23, at Buell Funeral Chapel in Springfield for Jessie Lee Blaton of Eugene, who died Dec. 16 of cancer. He was 70.
He was born Aug. 12, 1941, in Laurinburg, N.C., to Lee and Pearl Myers Blaton.
He attended some college. He served in the Army from 1958 to 1962. He worked as a machinist at Myrmo & Sons.
Survivors include a son, Tom of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; a brother, Horace of South Carolina; and two sisters, Louiza McGee and Frances Zainey, both of South Carolina.

Ernest Logan “Ernie” Bishop

SPRINGFIELD — Ernest Logan “Ernie” Bishop of Springfield died Dec. 16 of age-related causes. He was 95. No service is planned.
He was born Feb. 20, 1916, in Boise to Sam and Mabel Bishop. He married Lisa Ling in 1939. They later divorced. He married Audi Hall in 1983.
He graduated from Washington State University in 1938. He served in the Army from 1944 to 1946. He played professional baseball for the San Francisco Missions, Hollywood Stars and the Twin Falls Indians from 1938 to 1941. He worked for First Interstate Bank from 1941 to 1973, retiring as vice president of the Eugene main branch.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Gary of Phoenix, Ariz., and Paul of Kentucky; a stepdaughter, Sue Gabriel of Junction City; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A son, James Bishop, died previously.

CRESWELL — Anton “Rick” Swoboda of Creswell died Dec. 16 at age 48. The family chose not to list the cause of death. A private service is planned.
He was born Dec. 24, 1962, in Eugene to Phillip and Ramona Birdsong Swoboda.
He married Dawn Arney on Dec. 24, 1989. They later divorced.
He graduated from Creswell High School. He worked in the dairy industry.
Survivors include his parents; two daughters, Caitlyn Swoboda of Corvallis and Shelby Swoboda of Springfield; and six sisters, Debra Jones of Lacey, Wash., Cindy Corderman of Salem, Tonja Davis of Burbank, Wash., Rebecca Swoboda of Portland, Cheryl James of Veneta and Sandra Bates of Creswell.

SPRINGFIELD — Donald Gene McMurray of Springfield died Dec. 12 following a heart attack. He was 68.

He was born July 17, 1943, in Minnesota to James and Esther Evenson McMurray.
He graduated from Springfield High School.
He retired from Lane Plywood.
Survivors include two sons, Jim of Gresham and Mike of Canby; a daughter, Teri Tweet of Seattle; a sister, Karen Jones of Springfield; and seven grandchildren.

ELMIRA — A celebration of life will be held Jan. 21 at the Noti Pub for George S. “Bud” Harris of Elmira, who died Dec. 9 of a presumed heart attack. He was 71.
He was born June 1, 1940, in Hemet, Calif., to Charles and Gladys Mumfort Harris. He married Anna Bridgeman on Oct. 4, 1969, in Portland.
He was a machinist and tool and die maker who converted buses, built schools and worked as a gold miner.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Bud of Hillsboro, Donnie of Bakersfield, Calif., and Erik of Salem; a daughter, Heather Harris of Elmira; a sister, Shirley Harris of Oregon; a brother, Charles “Buz” of Lincoln City; and four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

SPRINGFIELD — Ivan “Ike” Ditlefsen of Springfield died Dec. 10 of age-related causes. He was 89. No service is planned.
He was born Nov. 8, 1922, in Port Angeles, Wash., to Ole and Petra Ditlefsen. He married Flora Lorraine Sion on Nov. 1, 1945, in Torrence, Calif. She died May 6, 1980.
He graduated from Port Angeles High School in 1940. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1942 to 1945 at Midway Island during World War II.
He worked as an electrician and owned and operated Ike’s Electric in Springfield from 1961 to the 1990s.
Survivors include three sons, Gary of Christmas Valley, Jerry of Eugene and Michael of Springfield; a daughter, Patricia Wyatt of Redmond; a brother, Woodrow of Brinnon, Wash.; and six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
