Antonio (Tony) Arras Gonzalez, born October 6, 1927, in Powell, Wyoming, passed away November 12, 2025. He was the beloved son of Aurelia and Antonio Gonzalez. He was the eldest of eleven children in a large, loving family.

Tony attended and graduated from San Jacinto High School before proudly serving his country in the United States Army, where he received an honorable discharge. His commitment to service continued throughout his career. He lived in Hemet, California, while working as a sheriff in Riverside County, protecting his community with integrity and compassion. Later, he pursued his love for animals as a certified veterinary technician, offering skilled care and kindness to countless families and their pets.

In 1977, Tony moved with his wife Verna and their daughter Rebecca to Roseburg, Oregon, where they built a new chapter of life together. During his retirement, Tony found peace and fulfillment gardening and tending to his five-acre property. He also worked part-time, staying active and engaged with his community.

In 2004, Tony and Verna moved to Cottage Grove to be closer to their daughter Rebecca, her husband, and their two granddaughters, Tiana and Melia. In 2022, Tony and Verna made a final move, joining their family on a 20-acre property in Eugene, Oregon. Tony spent his final years surrounded by the love of his daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughters.

Tony was preceded in death by his wife, of almost 60 years, Verna. He is survived by his daughter Rebecca, son-in-law Chris Cook, granddaughters Tiana and Melia, and son David Moyer.

Tony’s legacy is one of service, compassion, and devotion to family. He will be remembered not only for his professional accomplishments but for the love, kindness, and quiet strength he shared throughout his life. He will be missed by all who knew him.
