In Loving Memory of Barbara Ann (Young) Guse
May 4, 1958 – April 19, 2026
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Barbara Ann Guse, 67, of Eugene on Sunday at her home. She was surrounded by her beloved husband David and their pets.
She was born in North Bend, Oregon on May 4, 1958, to Dale and Julia Ann (Hopper) Young. She graduated from Coquille High School in 1976. She then moved to Eugene and worked various jobs in the service industry, where she met and married David Allen Guse on January 25, 1981, in Coquille, Oregon. Barbara and her husband David created and ran the non-profit Pet Population Control for many years, helping to fund Oregon communities spay and neuter pets and strays.
She began work at Riverbend Hospital and Home Depot the same year and had the honor of being voted Employee of the Year at both in her first year of employment with each.
Throughout her life, she was a devoted wife, family member, a loyal friend, and a source of inspiration to all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten, as the memories she created will live on in our hearts forever.
Survivors include her husband David Allen Guse, sister Willie Anita Young (George Reed) of Noti, brother Dale Raymond Young Jr. (Jeffery Lee) of Columbus, Ohio, brother and sister-in-law Robert and Kristen Guse of Harrisburg, numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and loving cousins. She is preceded in death by her father Dale, mother Julia Ann, and sister Sandra Lee Young.
She brought joy, warmth, and kindness to everyone whose lives she touched. Her laughter was infectious, and her compassion knew no bounds, and her smile was beautiful, memorable and heartfelt.
Barbara’s family plans a celebration of life on August 20th in the Eugene area and will post the place and time on her Facebook page. We invite family and friends to join us in celebrating her remarkable life and cherishing the legacy she leaves behind. May she rest in peace.
Donations in Barbara’s memory to Eugene Greenhill Humane Society or the American Heart Association in leu of flowers is appreciated.
