IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Brooke
Webster
January 21, 1978 – November 21, 2025
Our beloved, fun-loving, inventive, intelligent, wild and hilarious story-teller Brooke Eastep Webster went to be with Jesus on Friday, November 21, 2025, in Springfield, Oregon, after two short days in the ER. He was 47.
Brooke was born in Caldwell, ID, on January 21, 1978, to Fred and Kathy Webster. He welcomed his brother Reed to the family in March, 1981. The family moved to Eugene, Oregon, where Brooke (& often Reed) played most days with the neighborhood boys, Ben, Jason & Matt ( Brooke’s lifetime crew), best friends even beyond high school. They rode bikes, climbed trees, collected neighborhood snakes, TP-ed friends’ houses, played organized sports as well as street football, and camped. Brooke learned how to play saxophone and guitar.
Brooke liked being involved with people which included going out for various sports and activities. His favorite sports were HS wrestling and football. He even had his picture in the local paper when he prevented the opposing football team from scoring as he “held the line” around 3 yards for his team to win the game. His Eagle Scout project was to build a volleyball court on his church’s property.
He loved guns of all sorts — Glocks, long rifles, pistols, shotguns — you name it, he was interested in trying it out on the shooting range. For a while he also liked hunting, until he had an unusual experience with a deer. He had the beautiful animal in sight and was getting ready to aim when he witnessed the deer turning, looking right at him, and smiling. After that, Brooke went home and sold his hunting rifle. When he discovered he could shoot animals with a camera, he became passionate about photography and was really good at capturing his subjects.
As a summer church camp counselor, he enjoyed bonding with younger people as they experienced days of Bible classes, organized activities, exploring deeper ideas of their faith, and, most everyone’s favorite — funny but harmless pranks. He participated in youth group road trips which included “working” ones in Mexico where they helped build houses and provided VBS type interactive sessions with the local kiddos. There was hard work tempered by laughter, construction, joyful faces, questions, frisbees, and local cuisine. On one of these trips, Reed was ready to express his commitment to Christ, and Brooke was honored to baptize him in a hotel pool in Indio, California.
Brooke traveled with his family to the Oregon coast (Driftwood Shores & dune buggies), to Idaho (Grandma and Grandpa Eastep), to the Northeast states (Webster relatives and Baseball Hall of Fame, Ft Ticonderoga, Boston, etc.), and to eastern Australia (Melbourne cousins, Sydney, Cairns, and Great Barrier Reef).
After graduating from Sheldon High School in 1996, Brooke attended a year of Bible college in Canada. When he returned to Eugene, he married and had a daughter, Kaela, who passed away at 10 days old. Having moved to Portland where his son Blake was born, Brooke longed to be closer to family and friends and soon moved his family back to the Eugene/Springfield area where daughter Lily was born.
Not long after his divorce, Brooke married Stephanie who had two daughters, Aaleigha and Kianah, who were several years older than Blake and Lily.
Brooke loved his family and took pride and joy in being a Papa. He loved the active life of BBQ’s, neighborhood basketball games on the street, attending kids’ sports games, and encouraging healthy relationships — were on his Papa list. Most of all, he liked the one-on-one conversations with each kiddo, getting to know them and listening to their dreams and fears.
Brooke struggled with sobriety. Finally on May 17, 2020, he quit and maintained his sobriety until his death.
Brooke had many interests: melting down silver; collecting world coins and bullions; making jewelry, knives, and knife sheaths; skillfully developing photography techniques for both stills and video. Although Brooke was not a “book learner,” he was intelligent and determined. When he wanted to know more about something, he researched it and remembered all the minute details.
Unfortunately his body started breaking down at what seemed a surprising speed. After years of abuse and inattention his body was rebelling.
Brooke had an outrageous sense of humor, wild ideas, protective instinct (he liked to see bullies have a change of heart), and complete loyalty to “his people.” He was a great story teller and was intelligent. He could bounce ideas around and bring new perspectives to situations. He valued friendships and treated everyone with kindness. And he was full of stories!! And laughter!! Lots and lots of laughter!!
Brooke leaves behind a brother and his family — Reed, Kelsey, Emerson, and Maxwell Webster; a former wife / best friend and her family —Stephanie Webster, Aaleigha Juarez Gonzalez (her children Khloe, Khaleesi, Khamora, and Desmond Jr.), and Kianah Wilkes; and Mother Kathleen Webster.
Brooke Webster, you didn’t ask my permission to leave, but I know without a doubt, that Jesus has you in His arms and you’re sharing your ideas freely. Lots of love, my son, Mom.
The Celebration of Life for Brooke Webster will be Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 11:30 at Joy Church which is located at 3188 Gateway Loop 97477 in Springfield.
