In Loving Memory of Christine Olson Dastur

May 21, 1953 – July 4, 2026

Christine Olson Dastur found rest on July 4, 2026, in Eugene, Oregon, at the age of 73. Born on May 21, 1953, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Reno, Nevada, she was the beloved daughter of the late Walter Neal Olson and Patricia G. Olson.

Christine grew up with a passion for the mountains and the snow, carving out a legendary path as an elite downhill skier. She was a former U.S. Olympic athlete and a proud member of the South Lake Tahoe Blue Angels Race Team. Heavenly Mountain always held a special place in her heart, serving as the backdrop for many of her finest athletic achievements and fondest memories, including winning the Governor's Cup presented by the late former President Ronald Reagan.

Her love for adventure and learning extended far beyond the ski slopes. After earning her bachelor's degree in Speech Communications from the University of Washington, Christine took to the skies as a flight attendant for Pan American World Airways. She later channeled her heart for helping others into academics, earning her Master's degree in Special Education. Her vibrant career and adventurous soul allowed her to satisfy a lifelong passion for traveling the world, living internationally in Saudi Arabia, Kenya, St. Maarten and New York alongside her family.

Above all her global adventures, Christine leaves her legacy as a mother to her only daughter, Shaleen Dastur Matregrano, and grandmother to her cherished grandson, Cyrus Matregrano. She also leaves behind her former husband, Jimmy Dastur, and her siblings, Molly Gingell and Patrick Olson.

Christine’s vibrant spirit, adventurous soul, and radiant energy will be deeply missed and forever celebrated by all who knew her.

Interment will be held at Happy Homestead Cemetery in South Lake Tahoe via a private family ceremony.
