Daniel Dean Paddock
April 11, 1948 – April 13, 2025
Eugene, Oregon
Daniel Dean Paddock departed this earth on April 13, 2025, in Eugene, Oregon, due to a U.S. military service-related disability. Born April 11, 1948, to parents Donald and Esther Paddock. Dan grew up in Lakewood, California obtaining Life Rank in the Boy Scouts and attended California State University, Long Beach majoring in History. As a teenager Dan was an avid surfer in Southern California, which left him with a lifelong connection to the ocean.
Dan served his country honorably as a sergeant in combat for the Army in the Vietnam War. After his service he met his future wife, Lee Aylor in Long Beach. Dan and Lee eventually settled in Eugene, Oregon.
Dan dedicated his working years as a construction project manager at Homes for Good Housing Agency (formerly HACSA). We are all very proud of his work helping to ensure many members of the community had the best in stable, safe and affordable housing.
Dan cherished time spent coaching his daughters’ youth softball teams and playing/managing the Shades of Grey adult slow pitch softball team. He was a devoted fan of the Oregon Ducks, through the good and bad. He was passionate about golf and loved his weekly game no matter the weather or how much pain he was in. In the last years of his life, the golf gods even bestowed upon him a hole-in-one on his nemesis 17th hole at Emerald Valley Golf Resort.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents and youngest brother Eugene Paddock. Dan is survived by his loving wife of over 52 years Lee, daughters Cari Miranda (Philip) and Chenoa Seals (Peter), and grandchildren Kannon and Elle Miranda and Fiona Fiala. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law Ken and Marcia Paddock, nephew Dustin and nieces Danielle and Stacie. Dan leaves behind numerous dear friends, including his golf, walking, poker, and football watching buddies.
Dan had a gift for connecting with people and deeply valued the friendships he cultivated over the decades. He will be remembered by many for his infectious laugh and love of conversation. He will be dearly missed.
A celebration of life will be held at Hillyard Community Center in Eugene, Oregon on July 14, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made for a commemorative bench in Dan’s memory in Eugene’s Amazon Park. Please contact the family to coordinate a contribution.
