Dominic “Dom” Worsowicz, beloved husband, father, brother, and Grampa, died peacefully at home in Eugene on October 7, 2026, surrounded by family. He is survived by his wife, Allegra; children, Liberty (Laurence) and Travis (Erica); four younger brothers, Timothy (Nan), Christopher (Phyllis), Gregory (Sue), and John (Kate); and two grandchildren, Addyson and Tristan.

Dom was born March 13,1953 in Boston, MA to Dominic and Dorothy before the family moved to Jacksonville, FL a few years later. A marvelous storyteller, he loved to entertain his kids and grandkids with stories of being an altar boy for the Latin mass, attending Catholic school taught by Irish nuns studying for their citizenship exams, working on a local dairy farm in the summers, and all the mischief he and his four brothers got into over the years in Jacksonville. They were usually silly stories filled with high adventure, seemingly more plausible now because of the “Florida Man” stories popular on social media. After graduating from Bishop Kenny High School, he briefly studied pre-med and then film studies at the University of South Florida before joining the Army on a Special Forces contract. Of course he regaled his loved ones with stories of more adventures as a Special Forces medic and could never have enough Special Forces swag, but his favorite story to tell was how he met his beautiful wife and the love of his life, Allegra, in the Fort Sam Houston Library in February 1975. They married in June 1977 and settled briefly in St Augustine, Florida. While back in Florida, Dom used the GI Bill to finish his Bachelor’s in English from the University of Florida before he and Allegra followed jobs and higher education to New Mexico, then Dallas, then Denver, and finally settled in Eugene in 1990 with multiple graduate degrees and two children added to their family.

In addition to teaching business part-time at Lane Community College and Western Oregon University, he was a busy stay-at-home Dad before it was cool. His kids have fond memories of him pulling them around town in the Burley trailer or taking them with him on early morning runs around Eugene as he trained for his next marathon or triathlon, and they dreaded whenever Dad was busy and Mom had to cook dinner. They have less fond memories of watching movies with him because as an avid student of film, he could always accurately predict the ending and pointed out all of the artistic devices used. His family knows that even though he was a little (or a lot) rough around the edges at times, nobody cared about taking care of people more than him and nobody was more proud of his family than Dom. His wife and kids were often embarrassed in public to hear him loudly bragging to anybody who would listen about all of their accomplishments, even if they seemed minor or felt like failures. An active member of the Knights of Columbus, he’s a past Grand Knight of Council 1430 and State Deputy for Oregon. While his health slowed him down considerably over the last few years, he always tried to bring his kids to any Knights of Columbus event he could if they were in town. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, 12:15, October 20, 2026 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Eugene.
