Donald Larry Raines was born September 16, 1957 in East Cleveland, Ohio. Born the only child to his mother, Mary Carolyn Raines, (nee Bright), he remained a devoted son until her death.

A man with many interests and abilities, Don was a non-commercial pilot, a real estate agent and an optician during his lifetime. He lived in Ohio, Texas, California and Tennessee during his lifetime before settling in the Eugene area many years ago. Don's pastimes included collecting matchbox and model cars, collecting and listening to music, collecting movies of all types. He was an accomplished painter and drawer and a voracious reader of books. No matter his situation or surroundings, he made friends. His memory was astounding and he loved conversation on any topic you could imagine.In his last decade, Don navigated End Stage Renal Disease with his usual ability to master his way. He was a favorite of both the home therapy and clinic teams of Fresenius Dialysis at River Avenue.His many long-time friends and colleagues will miss his laser-like insight, his quick wit and humor, his zest for life and his steadfast friendship.
