Donald Edward Spinney Jr, aged 69 left us to be with the lord in the early afternoon on Sunday, May 17, 2026. He was born to Donald Edward Spinney Sr and Alice Ruth Spinney on April 19, 1957, in Roseburg, Oregon.

Donnie spent most of his younger years in Gervais. He graduated from Gervais High School in 1975. He joined the army right after high school and spent a few years in Washington State. Donnie loved to travel and spent some of the early 80’s living in California. Donnie loved the outdoors and was a loyal friend whose steady presence shaped the lives of many.

He loved the Seattle Seahawks and the Oregon Ducks. He enjoyed spending time hanging out with friends at the Mohawk Tavern and O’Brien’s Place. His friendships were legendary, some he met later in life and other friends with decades long bonds marked by loyalty, humor and the kind of dependability that made him the first-person people called in both celebration and crisis.

Music was one of the greatest joys of his life. He loved all kinds of music – classic rock, folk, blues, and especially the Foo Fighters. He played a mean guitar, the kind of playing that made people stop mid-conversation just to listen. Whether around a campfire, at family gatherings, or alone on the porch at dusk, his music was a gift he shared freely and joyfully.

Donnie is survived by his daughters, Stephanie and April; his sisters Sandy, Janice, Wanda and Vicki; his grandchildren Ashley, Tyler, Sorren, Aden and Lincoln; his great-grandson Ziggy. Donnie had many nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends who felt like family.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Kings Valley Cemetery from 1:00pm-3:00pm.
