Franklin Ray Armstrong, age 92, passed away on May 18th in Springfield. He was born January 30th, 1934, to Glen and Goldie Armstrong in Eugene, OR. He grew up in Walton and graduated from Elmira Highschool in 1952. He joined the Navy during the Korean War as a SeaBee and member of the Mobile Construction Battalion #9, establishing naval bases in the Philippines and Alaska. After returning home, he married Verna Mae Reid in 1958, and they had four beautiful children, Glenda, Gary, Greg, and Gerald. They had grandchildren, Shannon, Jeff, and Jaimie and great-grandchildren Chandler and Ryder. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son Greg, and daughter Glenda. Frank proudly owned and operated his own concrete construction company in Lane County from 1971 to 1998. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, and spending time with family. He cared deeply about his community, spending time at the Veneta Senior Center and volunteering for the VFW and Applegate Pioneer Museum. His warmth, integrity, and generous spirit will be remembered forever by all who loved him. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 26th at 11am at Andreason's Funeral Home in Springfield.
