Gail Elizabeth Smith
February 25, 1952 – September 1, 2026
With heavy hearts, we announce the sudden passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Gail Elizabeth Smith, on September 1, 2026, at the age of 74.
Gail brought joy, laughter, and light to everyone around her. She was funny, loving, and happiest when surrounded by her family and friends. Her nine precious grandchildren held a very special place in her heart.
One of the greatest gifts Gail gave to others was her heart for service. She had a natural way of seeing when someone needed help and finding a way to be there for them. Through countless acts of kindness, both big and small, she cared for others, offered a helping hand, and made people feel loved and supported.
In the 1980s, Gail and her beloved husband, Robert, purchased and restored a historic home in Coburg, Oregon, where they made their home and became part of the community they loved. Their home was a special place filled with memories, family, friends, and love, and they both treasured the many friendships and connections they made there over the years.
Gail loved camping, sprint car races, George Strait, and proudly supporting her son in his off-road racing adventures. She cherished making memories with the people she loved and brought warmth and laughter wherever she went.
Gail was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Smith, and her parents, Jens and Ora Boyum.
She is survived by her sister, Sue Hayes of Bend; brother, Jerry Boyum of Eugene; children, Kelly (Tristen) of Eugene and Tracy (Jim) of Albany; and her nine cherished grandchildren.
Gail will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her love, laughter, kindness, and the light she brought into so many lives. She was deeply loved, and her life will always be remembered and cherished.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 17th, at 10 a.m. at Ekklesia Eugene.
