Geri Deskins, nearly 77 years old, passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at Pete Moore Hospice House, with her family at her side.

Geri was born on August 8, 1948, in Oklahoma City, OK, to Vinita and Edward Wilson. She had two sisters, Gloria and Shirley and two brothers, Bill and Ken.

In 1966, Geri graduated from North Eugene High School.

Geri married Thomas A. Deskins on May 17, 1971. She raised four children; one biological child, Marc, and three step-children: Tommy, Debbie and Ledora. She also raised three grandchildren and was blessed with seven more grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She absolutely adored her fur family of dachshunds throughout her entire life.

Geri worked many years as a cook at Harrisburg Elementary School; and was well known by colleagues, students and community for her tireless energy.

She was an avid equestrian, competitive rider, official judge and timer at the following organizations: Western Horseman of Oregon, Southern Oregon Gaming Organization, Fern Ridge Barrel Racers, and The Eugene Pony Club; and also, a loyal member for many years. Other hobbies included: cooking and canning for friends and family, playing poker, bingo and bowling; and also watching golf and baseball. Additionally, she was a member of the Junction City Moose Lodge.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom; sisters, Shirley and Gloria; brother, Ken; and survived by her brother, Bill Wilson.

Geri will be remembered for her generous heart, giving nature and fiery spirit that served to strengthen everyone around her. Her friends and family were always in her heart and she will remain in theirs as she begins her next chapter.
