Gordon 'Gordy' Eugene Stephens
October 28, 1931 - August 23, 2025
Gordy was born in Yoncalla, OR on October 28, 1931 to R. Leonard & Katie Grace (Workman) Stephens. He was the youngest of four children.
He died at home on August 23, 2025 at the age of 93.
He lived in the Mohawk Valley all of his life, except when serving in Korea and a few years in Colorado. He was one of the last of the pioneer families of the Mohawk area.
He married Frances ‘Frankie’ Kushlan on April 14, 1956 and remained married until her death on September 12, 2024. Together they had seven children.
He worked as a logger and well driller.
He served in the Army stationed in Korea during the Korean War. He received the Distinguished Veteran’s Award in November 2018.
He was Mohawk High School’s biggest fan. He LOVED going to kids’ ball games, church, bunco, board meetings, rodeos and fishing… lots & lots of fishing. He never met a dessert he didn’t like – especially apple fritters, pie and ice cream.
He is survived by his children, Clint (Cindy) of Rainier, WA; Russ (Vivian) of Springfield, OR; Donnie (Sherry) of LaPine, OR; Amy Stephens of Marcola, OR; Lisa (Mark) Johnson of Sweet Home, OR; 15 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, and brother-in-law Phil (Diane) Kushlan of McCall, ID.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Frankie; twin daughters Rebecca & Loretta; his parents; sister, Helen (Stephens) Reynolds and brothers, Phil Trotter and Carol Stephens.
