James (Jim) Patton Stoops

March 7, 1963–sept 10, 2026

James (Jim) Stoops was born on March 7, 1963 in Dos Palos CA to Beverly Rutledge and James Stoops. Jim grew up in Watsonville CA with his four older siblings and single mother. He was an avid skateboarder, bowler, and swimmer.

As he grew into adulthood, Jim became a pretty decent cook and felt his gravy was better than his other siblings! It was.

Jim had a tough road to travel in his life and he did it as best he could.

He loved his family, camping and fishing.

Jim passed away on September 10, 2026 in the very early morning at Riverbend Hospital in Springfield Oregon. So many staff to thank for treating Jim with dignity and respect during his last few days. And hospice staff-thank you.

Jim was predeceased in death by his mother, Beverly Rutledge and his oldest sibling, Vicki Torgerson.

He is survived by his 4 children-Jessica Noldner (Billy) of South Dakota; Brittany Key; Breanna Dexter, and Brayton James Michael Stoops of Springfield Oregon. He also has 4 grandchildren. His older sisters Cathy Rutledge of Santa Rosa CA; Debbie Rutledge of Paradise CA; and his older brother Rod Rutledge of Orlando FL.

Jim is at rest now.

We will miss that deep voice, great smile and his mischievous ways. Sleep easy, Jimmer.
