Jimmy Philip Metz, 93, peacefully passed away at home on August 18th with his daughter Andi at his side.
Jimmy was born on November 5th, 1930 to Ben and Edith Metz in Drumright, Oklahoma. When he was sixteen his family moved to Oregon, where he would spend most of his life.
He walked many paths during a long and fulfilling life. Jimmy served in the US Air Force during the Korean War, worked as a truck driver for Reddaway, and was an accomplished woodworker who crafted gun cases for Eugene police and Lane County sheriff's office. He had a great love for the outdoors, spending many of his days fishing in pristine, tucked away spots by the river and even reporting he had a Bigfoot encounter while hunting in Oregon's wilderness. Jimmy also held a deep passion for history and all things lost and buried that he would often share with his family through his deep research into genealogy, passion of collecting antique tools and memorabilia, and hobby of metal detecting. Jimmy was predeceased by his parents Ben and Edith, his brothers Charles and Jack, and his wife Shirley. He is survived by his children Andrea "Andi" and Jason, and his grandchildren Jacob and Katie
