IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joan
Roberson
December 9, 1943 – February 18, 2026
Memorial Service
Whisper Canyon Ranch
Starts at 11:00 am (Pacific time)
Joan Hazel “Joanie” Roberson (Winter), age 82, passed away just after sunrise on February 18th, 2026, from complications following a severe stroke. She was surrounded by her loved ones—her favorite way to greet a new day.
Joanie was born in Upland, California, and grew up in Sacramento. Her happiest childhood memories were made in the company of her beloved Grandma Winter (“Grandma Big”), whether they were camping beneath the stars or making homemade peach ice cream with peaches from Grandma’s yard. From an early age, Joanie wanted to be the same kind of strong, steadfast grandma she’d cherished herself.
Life wasn’t always easy, but Joanie faced every challenge with grit, a giving heart, and unwavering determination. She raised her family on a waitress’s wage, never letting hard times slow her down. Later, she found her dream job at Herb Pharm, where her work ethic and loyalty made a lasting impression. Joanie kept working full-time right up until her stroke, not because she had to, but because she truly cared about her work and the people around her.
Joanie is survived by her children: John Paul and Tiese; those who loved her like a mom: David, Robin, Richie, and Amber; her grandchildren: Kyndra, Alexis, Sunshine, Kailani, John, Koa, and Seven; and her sisters: Carol and Linda. She also leaves behind a wide, loving circle of extended family and friends who will miss her deeply. She is preceded in death by her husband Paul and her grandson Caleb, whose memory she carried in her heart.
Joanie’s greatest joy was her grandchildren, and she spoiled them with great memories, especially through her unwavering dedication to watching them play sports and perform in dance recitals. Whether it was raining or shining, she was nearly always on the sidelines or in the audience, cheering them on. She never missed a game or recital if she could help it. She was the one you could turn to for a listening ear, and she offered advice straight and unvarnished.
She loved giving people nicknames, gardening, and cooking for her loved ones, and she cherished family traditions, especially camping trips and annual summer adventures, which she made sure were special for everyone involved.
Those who knew Joanie will remember her quick wit, her fierce loyalty, and her toughness. She didn’t sugarcoat things, and she taught those around her to be strong, resourceful, and resilient. Her legacy lives on in the memories she created and the values she instilled.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 28th, 2026, at 11:00 am at Whisper Canyon Ranch, 2249 Reeves Creek Road, Selma, OR 97538. All who knew and loved Joanie are welcome to attend and celebrate her life.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Joe’s Place Ministries (P.O. Box 1226, Grants Pass, OR 97528, joesplaceministries.org), Gospel Rescue Mission (PO Box 190, Grants Pass, OR 97528, gospelrescuemissiongp.org), or Pharm Aid (Attn: Earl, 5448 Bierson Way, Central Point, OR 97502), organizations close to Joanie’s heart.
Joanie will be deeply missed, but her strength, generosity, and love will live on in all who were lucky enough to know her.
