John
Engholm
Sep 11, 1958 — Jun 28, 2026
John Lawrence Engholm
John Lawrence Engholm, 68, of Elmira, Oregon, was born on September 11, 1958, and passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by the love of his family.
John was born to Larry and Ann Engholm and grew up in nearby Veneta, Oregon. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps before beginning a long career at Weyerhaeuser/International Paper in Springfield, Oregon, where he was known for his dedication, reliability, and strong work ethic.
John found his greatest joy outdoors. Whether he was elk hunting in Eastern Oregon, logging, maintaining the family farm, camping, or fishing, he was happiest with hard work, fresh air, and the people he loved. He believed in planning the work, working the plan, earning what you had, and never cutting corners. He took pride in a job done right.
Those who knew John will remember him as hardworking, direct, funny, and genuine. He had a quick wit, spoke his mind, and wasn’t afraid to tell it like it was. Beneath that straightforward nature was a man who deeply loved his family and found happiness in the simple things in life.
John is survived by his loving wife, Ellen Engholm; his children, Doug, Mandy, and Jake; his grandchildren, Hunter, Walter, Bella, Aiden, and Kaitlyn; his siblings, Laura and David; and his beloved dogs, Tucker and Rip. He was preceded in death by his parents, Larry and Ann Engholm.
John’s legacy lives on through the example he set for his family: hard work, honesty, resilience, and doing your best. He will be remembered with love, missed beyond words, and never forgotten.
In accordance with his wishes, his ashes will be scattered in a place that was special to him.
