IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John Anthony "Tony"
Mohr
July 13, 1941 – December 9, 2025
John Anthony (Tony) Mohr
1941-2025
Husband, father, son, uncle, grandfather, great‑grandfather. Friend, teacher, fisherman, golfer, bridge and poker player, fantasy football and baseball enthusiast, volunteer, mentor, and—reluctantly—skier.
Tony Mohr was born on July 13, 1941, to Bill and Doris Mohr.
Although raised in California, Tony chose Oregon State University for college. He began in Forest Engineering but soon discovered that Education was a better fit for his personality and gifts. He later earned his Master’s degree at the University of Oregon.
Tony devoted 31 years to teaching students in grades 6–12 and capped his career by mentoring future educators in the University of Oregon’s Education Department. His passion for teaching and guiding others left a lasting mark on generations of students and teachers alike.
Though he was a proud “Platypus,” Tony rooted faithfully for Oregon football—even during the Civil War rivalry games. A longtime season ticket holder, he supported the Ducks through lean years and legendary moments, including the unforgettable Mud Bowl at Autzen Stadium.
In 2017, Tony was diagnosed with hydrocephalus and dementia, and four years ago congestive heart failure was added to his challenges. Thanks to the compassionate care of Sacred Heart Hospice, Tony was able to remain at home, where he passed peacefully in the early hours of Tuesday, December 9th.
Tony is survived by his wife, Mary; his son Erich and daughter‑in‑law Elaine; his niece Kelly; his nephew Tom, his sister‑in‑law Brenda; 3 grandsons, 7 great‑grandchildren, and numerous cousins.
He is reunited in heaven with his younger son Matt, his parents Bill and Doris, his in‑laws Frank and Betty, his brother-in-law Stephen (The Colonel), Aunt Nancy, and many other beloved relatives and friends (Ray, George, Mike, Andy).
Tony will be well cared for and deeply missed.
